urgent hairstyle advice needed

I have an appointment at 4pm, there are a couple of pics of me on my profile, what sort of hairstyle would suit me. My hair is currentlya little longer than shoulder length with a very short thick fringe and kind of a dark red colour. I feel like getting it all cut off but then I always end up feeling like I look fat. it ia very straight and fine and I dont have time to do it before work in the morning.

Am wondering about a reallt short bob. something like uma thurman in pulp fiction. Opinions very gratefully recieved.

I am quite chubby (size 16) and have a round face

Your face doesn't look very round in your pictures to me - it looks oval and slightly on the long side to me, or is that just in the photos?

I love bobs with short fringes. If you want your face to feel less exposed by the bob, keep the length below your chin (i.e. a little longer than your jaw line). I have a bob with fringe too and I find this is the prettiest lenght, while still being edgy(ish) and bob-like. Lots of bobs here btw.

Don't under any circumstances let them give you a pob, where it's shorter at the back. Especially as your hair is fine, go for just a few light, long layers, so it looks as blunt as possible.

like this? I love this one.

Yes that's gorgeous, she has similar hair type to you too. But hers is a bit scraggy on the ends - make sure hairdresser knows you want the ends cutting blunt rather than chipped into, which looks messy and scraggy on fine hair IMO.

Keztrel · 16/07/2013 14:57

But that's the exact length I mean, yes.

ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:02

this was the other sort of thing I was thinking.

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:06

or this

Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:07

The very short one is pretty but kind of boring IMO...why not try the bob then get it all chopped off if you don't like it? Plus you said you feel fat when it's really short.

Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:08

Those two short ones are the same I think, the reason they look good is all in the styling - and in the fact the models have lovely pixie faces.

ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:10

cant I just get a cute pixie face as well? so when I describe to the hair dresser I dont want it shorter at the back? which is what they always seem to want to do.

I'm probably biased because I love bobs with blunt fringes, but I think it would really suit your vintagey type style (which I'm guessing at from your pics...)

ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:12

my hair would definatly not stay styled, I work in a hospital and get very hot and sweaty. Would a bit of choppy layering be better or mooth?

OP posts:
Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:12

Yes they do all want to cut it short at the back. You just need to spell it out to them very very firmly. NO graduation, no angling, all one length all the way round!

ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:13

yes I do dress 50's, and I love my fringe. I need to find a pic that shows the back as well I think so I can show them.

OP posts:
Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:13

Not choppy layering if your hair is fine - you want to keep as much weight in there as possible. Just some very light, long, blended layers, so your hair has a bit of volume and shape. And as it's straight you won't need to do much styling.

Whogivesashit · 16/07/2013 15:14

Tell the hairdresser you don't want a graduated bob.

ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:14

back is that what you mean at the back?

OP posts:
Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:16

here
and here
and also here
here but shorter

If you show them the pics above and they still give you a shorter-at-the-back bob then don't pay them.

Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:17

The one you linked is still quite layered and cut into at the back.

Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:18

Whogives you'd think it would be that simple, but i've had several hairdressers still give me a graduated bob when I've specified I don't want one. They can't seem to help themselves. Same with layering the shit out of my hair when I've said just a few long, light layers. I have a competent hairdresser now though!

ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:24

right I have printed this and this will put a pic up later Smile

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 16/07/2013 15:26

ok first link was wrong I meant this one

OP posts:
Keztrel · 16/07/2013 15:28

Haha, OK, I was worried then. Good luck! Just be as specific as possible when describing what you want.

cocolepew · 16/07/2013 15:30

I have a face like a hamster storing nuts and I think I get away with short hair no problem. I just cut it at the weekend from a choppy bob into a shorter version of the first pic on your profile, but I'm aiming for a pixie cut.

Best bob ever is Louise Brooks.
