Bravissimo

I am having terrible difficulty in finding a bra that feels comfortable. Have tried all major high street stores And nothing!

Is bravissimo worth a try? Or any other suggestions? I'm desperate! I'm a 38 DD or there abouts!

Bravissimo is fab - I have a sneaking suspicion if you are finding it so difficult you might not be a 38DD. What dress size are you out of interest?

Mildpanic · 13/07/2013 14:26

I gave Bravissimo a try a few years ago when in the same position as you.
I can honestly say it was a revelation and I haven't looked back since.
I was bit embarrassed by the idea of having a fitting but it was definitely worth doing. I was a completely different size than I had been wearing for years.
The new fitted bras that I chose completely changed my figure and the way tops looked.
My experience was great, I would thoroughly recommend a proper fitting in one of their shops though.

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 14:32

I'm a 16. I measured for a new bra at debenhams was comfy for a day then sooo uncomfortable since then! I'm at my wits end and was nearly in years yesterday , stupid I know but just so frustrated!

Sounds like bravissimo is worth a try. Fiancée being great and says he'll forgo some extras if need to spend more on bras.

Yes from me too. Definitely book a fitting. I was a totally different size from what I had been wearing but they are really great and empathetic, and don't make you feel stupid at all. I found all the staff in the Cambridge branch were lovely and they are really pleased to help you find your size, and not snooty/dismissive at all (unlike M&S!)

There are a number of other bra threads on the go at the moment regarding size, have a look at them too. Now I know my size I am happy to order from websites, but it's really worthwhile getting a professional fitting done. Not by M&S or department stores though!

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 14:34

i'd be surprised if that's the right size. debenhams fitting service is ropey, they often use the old fashioned +4" method to get the backsize. Definitely go to Bravissimo as they fit properly but you may get size shock and find you are actually a 34FF or similar

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 14:40

Haha fiancée would love the double F!

I don't have one near me but going to Oxford next weekend and they have one there so ill book an appointment!

Fingers crossed I get a bra that fits!

Thanks all so far for your comments. Ill check out other bra threads as well!

In tears obviously! Not years

Bravissimo is fab! You are almost certainly not a 38DD !

They are just lovely and the boost from a well fitted bra mentally and physically is just amazing. Go!

juneybean · 13/07/2013 15:19

You're definitely not a 38, I'm a 16/18 wearing a 34H

missbopeep · 13/07/2013 15:22

Just to add that my mum who is 86 went for her first Bravissimo fitting recently! She was put into a 32F instead of the 36D she was drooping inwearing.

WeAreSix · 13/07/2013 15:23

Ooh another intervention?!

OP would you post your measurements so that the fantastic bra ladies can give you a better idea of your size?

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 15:27

That's fab missbopeep! Unfortunately with it being summer (and in scotland!) there are a lot of very sad looking bra sights out and about just now. I keep wanting to run up to people and rescue them

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 15:32

Booked an appt!

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 15:34

Wearesix stupid question but what measurements would you need!? I'm at work right now so I could do it when I get home.

OP posts:
RonaldMcDonald · 13/07/2013 15:35

I was wearing a 38.
Turns out I was a 28/30 depending on the make of bra

Felt like such an idiot

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 15:40

I don't care if I'm a 98 ggg I just want a bra to fit!

OP posts:
ouryve · 13/07/2013 15:55

Measure tightly around under your bust (I predict you are 33 or 34') and then lean forward and measure loosely around your bust.

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 15:58

Thanks, ill do it when I get home this evening. It'll be interesting to see what people think!

OP posts:
missbopeep · 13/07/2013 16:56

My mum has always had a 'thing' about her large bust- it used to be splendiferous when she was young. I think she has tried to avoid a bigger cup and go into denial instead. When I saw her and she was wearing a 36 D with an extension bit as well, I'd had enough and sent her packing to Bravissimo.

She didn't have to strip- they looked at what bra she was wearing and did that 'oh sorry...it's not the right back size- look how it's riding up'....etc.

Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 17:43

Right this is a rough measurement cause could

OP posts:
Gingerandproud · 13/07/2013 17:46

Right this is a rough measurement cause could only find the DIY type of tape measure!

Under boob - 36

Around boob- 43.5

Fiancée asking why I'm doing it- said mums net and he asked no more!!

OP posts:
magimedi · 13/07/2013 17:49

Bravissimo are wonderful I'm 36F with them & 38D with other (uncomfy) bras & places.

They are so nice & take endless trouble to make you feel OK with your bra. Even in this heat my underwired ones are perfectly OK.

WeightyKaty · 13/07/2013 17:52

I predict Statistically will tell you you are a 36ff or g or maybe try a 34ff if you are 'squishy'. I have read too many if these threads and the advice is invaluable! Hurrah to well fitting bras

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 17:54

OK, based on that a F/FF however if you were using a DIY type tape measure I suspect you probably weren't able to get a tight underbust measurement?? The underbust measurement should be very firm.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/07/2013 17:55

Sorry that should say 36F/FF. However - if Debenhams fitted you at 38DD then I think they would have got that based on them thinking you measured 33 or 34, and 43. Which is why I questioned the underbust
