What make up do you use to get a natural look?

I don't like a lot of make up but need some as I look so tired all the time.

I had a makeover at clinique yesterday and asked for natural but there was too much shimmer, eyeshadow, shimmery skin etc, it didn't look that natural.

Please could anyone recommend the actual products you use to get a nice soft natural look that I can wear to work?

I use urban decay naked foundation applied with real techniques stippling brush. That always gets comments that I'm glowing Wink

I use:

bare minerals foundation, concealer and setting powder, which is effective but light and natural.

My eyebrows are tinted and shaped (I'm fair).

A neutral eye shadow.

Black kohl liner underneath the top lashes to give my lash line a bit more definition without a heavy black line on my eyelid and black mascara.

I sometimes use a bit of blusher and bronzer but don't go over the top with it. I saw some nice ones at the Revlon counter yesterday - not loud or shimmery at all.

I'm not a big lipstick wearer so usually just wipe them to get rid of any base and apply lip balm. That said I bought a Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick in shade 08 yesterday, which makes my lips just look a bit 'bitten' IYKWIM. It looks a similar colour to the MAC one (plumtiful?) that people on here have been raving about recently but for a fiver. I can see my self wearing that more often.

It sounds a lot written down!

I think the brush is £10 or so and the foundation is £20 but you need a tiny bit with the brush

Do you have good skin in general? I used to have terrible skin but it's good at the moment. I'm just wearing Benefit Boiing concealer on the bits that need a bit of evenness, and then some light bronzer anded blusher. It feels really natural. I think if you don't have spots, you can't go wrong for summer with concealer, bronzer, cream blush (Max Factor do a good cream blush). And then maybe define your eyebrows slightly - at a pinch even just some Vaseline through them will help!

If you can bring yourself to get a lash tint every now and then, that's a really good idea. It'll give a nice natural effect without the faff of mascara. I bought my own lash tint kit but tbh I'd nearly be better off going to get it done - it's a bit messy to DIY and I keep finding other things I should be doing instead. But it makes a lovely, albeit very subtle, difference.

Benefit benetint blusher is a reddish pink liquid blush that looks completely natural and makes you look awake and alive. I use it everyday. Can't remember how much it is - not cheap but lasts forever, I've had mine for a couple of years and there's loads left.

Oh and get the pink tin of Vaseline lip balm if you want a bit of colour but don't like lip gloss or lipstick.

If you want to invest, Mac syrup lipstick is lovely - soft, natural pinky colour.

I use Diorskin Nude foundation, applied with a Real Techniques expert face brush. It covers imperfections and makes my skin look even, but doesn't cover my freckles.

I use powder in my T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural doesn't have shimmer or glitter in.

For my eyes, I use MAC Mystery as push liner. It's a dark brown eye shadow that I push into the lash line with a flat brush. It's far more soft and natural than liner, khol and so on. MAC Grain eye shadow on the lid - it's the same colour as my skin, just with a bit of shimmer.

Curl lashes and use mascara.

Brows: Catrice tinted eye brow gel (works like a mascara) or MAC Mystery/Omega applied with an angled brush.

Blush - colour depends on the colour of the lip product I'm using, as using the same tone ties the look together. Currently, I'm loving Clarins Instant Light Blush in 01 Vitamin Pink and a Giorgio Armani blush from the spring 2012 collection - I don't think it has a name, but it is soft pink.

I use MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade as highlighter.

Lip product can be gloss, balm, lipstick. Currently, I'm loving Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Pout. It's a my-lips-but-better colour.

You can see a picture of the products/colours here

I'm fair with freckles, dark/medium blond hair and blue eyes.

I have recently discovered the RMS beauty range. I use the RMS UN cover. It's a little pot with stuff which can be used as a concealer or foundation. Totally adjustable coverage. Looks like skin with nothing on. It's fantastic.

I apply with Space NK foundation brush or fingers pending on how much cover I need.

It's free from irritants etc (have rosacea so v v sensitive and often tomato coloured).

I set it with Neals Yard mineral foundation powder. This powder doesn't really give enough cover to use as a foundation unless you are 18 and flawless (40 and ruddy here!). But it makes you look healthy and sort of luminous without looking shiny or glittery. And it blurs wrinkles. And you just need a light sweep so lasts forever. And it doesn't contain any rubbish and is free from Zinc Oxide which I have helpfully developed a bad reaction to.

Bare mineral flawless mascara.

Burts bees tinted lip balm (ginger Lilly)

I sometime use eyeshadow. Either the Miami Taupe from Lili Lolo for day or RMS Karma for night or more dramatic look.
