Don't do it! I'm a natural 34 G, bane of my life!! Think carefully, WHY do you want to do this..?? ( sorry, that's probably not what you weant to hear...)

fatedtopretend · 10/07/2013 23:59

I was a 32 b, I breastfed for 2 years, I am now a 32 nothing. Not even an a cup. My gp has agreed that an enlargement is needed/justified for being wanted. I have deflated breasts to the point that my nipples look almost inverted.i would like to be a 32 b/c, I am not looking for massive boobs or for someone to tell me not to have them. I would like my breasts to stick out more than my ribs, I would like to feel like a woman basically.

Please can people message with experience of breast enlargements as that is what I am looking for. Thank you.

The best advice I can give you is research, research and then research some more.

  • Use a hospital such as Spire as opposed to a clinic.
  • Check they have memberships of professional bodies such as BAAPS
  • Make sure you feel comfortable talking to them and able to ask any questions you have
  • Importantly, check what aftercare they have in position, what facilities they have and for how long after can you go back if there's a problem, how many follow-up appointments you have etc.

Have you decided what CC you want? If you want saline or silicone? Where you want your incision? Do you have childcare and can you take time off work? You will need a week at the very least.

I was in exactly the same position, would never have thought I'd have a breast enlargement before having children. However, after mulling it over for months and months, trying to 'love myself' in padded bras I had it done very recently. Went quite conservative, just wanted to look natural. Nobody who wasn't told knows any different. It's early days but so far very happy with the results.

I would second lots of research and making sure you see a surgeon for consultations rather than a sales person.
Make sure you are comfortable with the surgeon and make sure they know what you want. It's worth googling before and after pics (realself is an American website but loads of info) to get an idea of the look you want.

I have been lurking for ages on here but your post made me remember when I was researching and was too scared to ask the same questions as you!!

fatedtopretend · 12/07/2013 08:32

Thank you so much for the replies, I am looking at spire as it includes an overnight stay and what seems like good aftercare. Also when trawling the Internet for research they are the only ones who haven't hounded me with calls!

I'm thinking teardrop under muscle implants so they look more natural, not sure about what cc or type yet.

My boss is amazing and his wife had implants recently so he has said once I get a date he will sort holidays then shift me to light duties once I'm back to work. He's been giving me advice on surgeons!

I would really just like to feel feminine and be able to fit in clothes again. I know having implants won't make me love my whole body-they aren't magic after all, but it would be nice just to get a bit of confidence back.

Also ask for recommendations of surgeons from other women. And make sure they are properly qualified and have done lots of ops.
Good luck- it's not a huge deal these days and I hope it works out.

missbopeep · 12/07/2013 08:55

Oh- one tip from friend who had this done ( tip from her dr) was to buy bras and pad them out in the sizes you are thinking of having- so you might want to start with 32C or something.

Canalside · 12/07/2013 10:14

If you want natural looking don't go for under muscle implants. They're the ones that don't look natural! Will attempt to pm you the names of good surgeons. As above, you need to see the person doing the op, not a nurse and not a salesperson.

Canalside · 12/07/2013 10:27

You should have mail!

missbopeep · 12/07/2013 12:01

The only person I know who has this done used Alex Karadis in London.
But I know there are lots of very good surgeons out there and if you search MN you might find more names.

I really want to get a boob job done too. I really want to have a better shape, they have no shape to them at all. I really hate them and it really knocks my confidence.

I know you can have an uplift but I have heard that it isn't as effective as an implant. I know an implant will give it more shape and keep them in the right position.

My mother works at Spire and she often cares for patients who have had breast augmentation. She suggested I choose a hospital to have it done as (shes probably biased but i think shes right) they have excellent after care.

And in the liklihood of anything going wrong its best to choose a hospital local to you, so you won't have to travel too far.

She also said to do lots of research into the different surgeons because you want to like and be at ease with your surgeon - as they literally will be man handling your boobs!

I've looked into Spire and I probably will book a consultation with them. I had an information pack sent through too. I think you can go straight ahead and have a consultation with a surgeon but if you book an appointment with a nurse first then you get your consultation fee reduced.

I think the nurse will explain about the procedure and you get to ask questions before you go ahead and pay for the initial consultation.

Wow fatedtopretend your boss does sound amazing! I hope mine will be just as understanding!

Sparklegeek · 12/07/2013 13:22

I had mine done 5 years ago & have never looked back - can highly recommend you my surgeon!

The biggest piece of advice i can give you is to research, research, research. I used sofeminine.co.uk a lot & the same surgeon's names will keep cropping up on there so you'll get a feel for who is recommended & who to avoid.

Regarding what somebody said re over/under the muscle implants. It all depends on how much breast tissue you have. If the answer (like me!) is very little then you will need them under the muscle, which makes the recovery slightly longer as it's more invasive. If there is very little breast tissue there, if you just have them placed on top of the muscle you get the half-watermelons WAG look, very obviously fake. My under-the-muscle ones are v natural looking.

Oh - & buy a sports bra (you'll need one for after the op anyway!) in the size you'd like to go to & fill it with rice until it is the size you'd like to be to get an idea of what cc to choose - weird & it'll freak you out but gives you an idea of how you'll look dressed!

Good luck.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow · 12/07/2013 21:49

The surgeon who did my breast reduction this spring was Miss Joanna Skillman at the Spire.

She also does enlargements and I cannot praise her highly enough. Or the Spire. They were all outstandingly good.

Canalside · 13/07/2013 10:28

As another thought - if you find a surgeon who does reconstructive work (3 of those I mentioned in my PM do, and the lady above does) they'll often be very very good, experienced and have a good understanding of how to make breasts look as good and natural as possible, as they do that when reconstructing breasts.

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2013 09:31

I got your inbox canalside-thank you so much! I'm near to Hull and so it was really useful!

I have literally got no breast tissue left which is why I'm thinking under the muscle-anything on top would just leave an outline Hmm

I'm hoping to have enough saved by January so I think I'm giving myself a decent amount of research time and time to see a few different surgeons as it is a costly investment!

OP posts:
Canalside · 15/07/2013 09:55

Ah, I see what you mean about under the muscle. Whoever you see should be able to go through all the options with you and come up with a plan that you're happy with, and they think will give a good result - tailored to you and your breasts. Make sure it's a surgeon for this. If they can't then see someone else. It's definitely a costly investment so sounds like a good idea to see a few different surgeons.
Good luck!

Poogate · 15/07/2013 17:37

I have under the muscle implants, I'm 5ft 5", small build size 8 and my breasts are a 34d, which sounds big but actually isn't at all, 'they' look in proportion with my body making me an hour glass as I have rounded hips. I was tempted to go bigger as my best friend said what's the point, if you're going to get them done, make it worth it, but I'm so pleased that I went for a size that I could realistically be because of my shape. I really love them and they are part of me, they don't feel unreal or strange, just natural. They also look natural, I go topless on the beach and feel confident of that. I was on the beach last week and saw some terrible 'jobs', big pointy hard looking 'cones', which were more than likely over muscle implants, which don't look as natural as under the muscle, although the op is more painful than 'overs' and the recovering slower, the end result is worth it. I've had two ops, the first implants were pips which ruptured, but I still don't regret having the op in the first place. Go for it!

KateSpade · 15/07/2013 18:49

I was on the edge of getting mine done, this time last year. Unfortunately it fell through after I had persuaded my mum round for support, a few months later my mum found out she had breast cancer and obviously went against my augmentation, without any parental support I have no help with my DD whilst i am heeling. Godparents don't approve either, but if you want to do it, do it! If I had a realistic plan I'd do it tomorrow!

Please go for tear drop implants though round ones look so fake!

KateSpade · 15/07/2013 18:51

Just read your previous comment Blush good choice Grin

SofaCanary · 15/07/2013 18:53

If you're anywhere near the Midlands, Mrs Kat is definitely worth a consultation - she did an uplift and gave me small implants, they are absolutely beautiful puts the rest of me to shame.
