How to safely store clothes for a long time

I have some lovely clothes that don't fit anymore, really classic stuff. I have two dd's under 2 and thought it might be nice to keep a few dresses for when they are older.
They will either like or not and if not i can sell as vintage in the future Blush
Most of the dresses are silk and one is heavily beaded. I was planning to store them in the loft. The loft is converted and has heating. I have a small walk in cupboard up there. For space reasons I'd rather store them in some sort of box. Does anyone know how best to store them so they last for the future?

Why do you have heating in your loft? Confused

Sorry, no advice - but have a look on wedding forums for how ladies preserve their wedding dresses - have heard you can get special moisture-proof boxes to store them in and people who will pack them neatly for you. I keep my maternity / summer / work clothes in vacuum packed bags but they come out really creased which might not be suitable, although they are moisture proof.

I got an acid-free cardboard storage box for my wedding dress. Googled and bought on line.

Moths and or mice can wreck stored clothes (I speak from bitter experience of local moths who are now fat from a vintage Dior couture jacket). The white company sell cotton storage bags that seem pretty moth proof, but whatever you store, check regularly for signs of moth, carpet beetles, or mice. (they also seem to love a quality garment to nest in!).

Amazinggg - it is a loft conversion.
Our dry cleaners sell boxes for storing clothes in. Maybe it would be worth going to see a dry cleaner to see what advice they have.
