Fed up with hair removal problems!

Hi
I have issues with hair removal and am getting fed up with it in this hot weather. I stopped shaving underarms a couple of years ago as I got recurring abcesses after every shave and had to have one cut out under GA as it got so bad. Can't face that again so opted for waxing. This is fine except when it gets to the regrowth stubbly stage as it's unsightly but not long enough to wax. I have to keep my pits covered and in this heat I must look weird going around in a cardigan!!

Also my legs hate being shaved, again I get them waxed but what do I do mid re-growth? I shaved them the other day as wanted to wear shorts. Two days later they were itching me almost to the point of me scratching myself. I now have little bruises all over my legs where I scratched so hard. It gets unbearable.

Does anyone know why my skin can't seem to tolerate shaving and what the heck I'm meant to do between waxes to avoid actually melting under layers of clothes?!
The girls at work all have lovely dresses and short sleeve tops on while I'm in covered arms & legs. It's really getting me down.

Have you tried IPL hair removal home kits? I'm using the one from Boots and it's great but unfortunately only works with fair skin.

Tambaboy what is that and how much is it please?

A dermatologist advised me that lasering is the only solution for this.

Have you tried shaving after soaking in a warm bath for a while, with moisturising lotion in?
And then exfoilating and moisturising religiously post shave?

What about short sleeved blouses/teeshirts and dresses with sleeves rather than cardies?

Ooh - I get this too.

Abcesses when I shave, chemical burns if I immac, and lots of pain in the arse regrowth when I wax that's visible so quickly.

When you say the IPL kits are only for fair skin, Tambaboy - is that all hair types too? I'm very pale, but with very dark hair.

*Hurricanewyn, I'm the same and actually that's the best combination for the ipl treatment as the dark hair follicle will absorbe the light and not the skin.

Thanks Smile

Another vote for laser- please justify the cost as you're obviously suffering and it's an easy painless solution.

Thanks everyone. If I have laser done at a salon does it require several treatments? Does the hair ever grow back?I'd better start saving I think!

I have this problem too - can't go anywhere near a razor. I've been using an epilator for the last 12 years or so and it's brilliant - I can't even feel it now!

I think with the laser at a salon you need about 12 treatments for the hair to disappear and one every year after that to keep the results otherwise it will grow back after a few years unfortunately.
Check Groupon web page , sometimes they have really good deals in there, but it all depends of where in the country you live. Best of luck.
