Where to buy a keepsake piece of jewelry (and what to buy?)

I know there have been threads about this before but I can't find them. Ive just had a significant birthday and my dad wants to buy me a piece of jewelry. I think budget up to several hundred but not beyond 4 figures. I like retro pieces, something a bit quirky and probably a bracelet, necklace or ring (not earrings). I wear a lot of white metal, pre-loved is fine too. I'd like something that is going to stand the test of time, that I can hand down to my kids etc. Not really sure where to look, any suggestions welcome.

Something like an Art Deco style ring from an antique jeweller?

Come down to Brighton & look round the Lanes. Plenty of jewellery shops selling both new and pre-owned pieces. Lots to choose from and lots of competition!

I'd have a look at antique shops, local jewellery shops/goldsmiths and online at the large brands (Georg Jensen, Tiffany, Cartier and so on) for inspiration.
I'd also look at Harrods and Selfridges (they have loads of jewellery online), net-a-porter and so on.

If you have an idea of what you would like, you could also get a custom made piece made.
