What is the best ultra ultra mild shampoo?

'There's more to life than hair' : this was my mantra as a naturally glowing young feminist but then one day I woke up, looked in the mirror and saw Garry Glitter staring back Blush I've highlighted my fine, mousy hair for years, and years, and although I go to the best place I know (Lisa Shepherd - would recommend) the damage is now showing itself to an embarrassing degree. My once lustrous hair is absolutely frazzled and somehow puffy and thin at the same time. My hairdresser told me that most commercial shampoos contain strand-stripping chemicals that make colour damage even worse and then on cue he recommended a sickeningly expensive shampoo (Shu Umera) that was made of only the mildest most magical herbs / flowers / dewdrops. Although I sensed nonsense it did make me think I should get a milder shampoo to minimize damage. Apparently baby shampoo isn't mild, it's just alkaline (so it doesn't cause tears). And apparently repairing hair ONCE it's damaged is next to impossible so it's best to go with a prevention campaign. Anyone have any suggestions? What do you all use? I've heard the Green People's shampoo is pretty good but it smells EXACTLY like detergent Hmm which I have to say reminds me of all the tasks I have to do but would rather not be reminded of in the shower

Do you use styling products on your hair? Most shampoo has to use chemicals to get rid of the silicone build-up from conditioners and styling products. If you move towards a really gentle shampoo, make sure your conditioner and styling products aren't siliconey or your hair will quickly become lank and greasy.
