Looking for a lightweight top/shirt in three different styles; any idea where I should look?

I need new tops for work in at least 3 styles

No sleeves
Fitted
Looser/longer

In purple, a light weight cooler fabric - it can be patterned

I have looked in M&S, Gap, H&M, Asda, Tesco; where else should I look?

Thanks in advance

BHS?

KatyMac · 04/07/2013 15:15

Thanks - still searching

I must have looked at 30 plus websites today

I think I'm too picky; I suppose it's like bridesmaids dresses - someone will have to be disappointed

Why does it have to be putple? Is that personal or work specifying that?

KatyMac · 05/07/2013 09:29

Work - although my deputy & I are discussing other colours atm (as it has been such a fruitless search)

American Apparel have every shape and colour imaginable. The quality is great too.

Thanks but they are a bit expensive for a stingy boss like me; esp when I have to buy about 20

How about buying plain white cotton and dying them all?

EarlyInTheMorning · 05/07/2013 18:09

Check BHS and ASOS

Or, you could let them wear what they like and have some pinnies printed up with the logo / name / whatever. Here, for example.

MrsLettuce · 05/07/2013 18:19

pinnies or pinnys? Aprons, in any case.

MrsLettuce · 05/07/2013 18:22

This place will embroider whatever design on, much better lasting than print.

I think the difficulty with buying something fashion-ey as staff uniform is that its hugely unlikely to be available next season when you have a new starter / someone needs a new top etc.

I would therefore go with something with better continuity prospects, such as:

  • a shirt in a particular colour from a shop like t m lewin which is great quality and lots of colour options but not so seasonal
  • the dreaded logo'd polo shirt / t shirt
  • staff buy their own tops in a standard colour, eg black
  • as suggested up thread, a logo'd top layer like a pinny. Possibly cheaper long term as can hand down to new starters.

Purple has worked well so far; but we are just so hot in the (proper) polo shirts & was trying to be nice and find something cool.

We work in a conservatory & it's hell atm (I think it's the sudden change in temp this year)

I bought these in the end

Hope they all like them
