Best concealer for spots

I've been using Bare Minerals cream concealer for a while, but I'm not really sold on it. I have fairly acne-prone skin, so I need quite a heavy concealer, but I'd like one that doesn't look too heavy (asking a lot, I realise!). I'm happy to spend a bit of money on a really good one, so does anyone have any recommendations on their favourite concealer?

Bare Minerals Bisque concealor or just use the foundation - you need to get the BM concealor brush though which is ace and the only brush of theirs that is any good imo.

Vibbe · 02/07/2013 11:59

When I've had really bad spots, I've used my normal foundation on the non-spotty areas, and then Vichy Dermablend foundation (the liquid one, not the stick) on the spotty areas.

I've used it as concealer as well, which has also worked perfectly fine.

I've not been lucky to find a good concealer - they cake and crease terribly on me, so instead I've used a full-coverage foundation to avoid having too many layers (foundation, concealer, powder and so on).

Valium Thanks. I used the powder concealer from BM before they introduced the cream one, and I wasn't really a fan. I have the brush, just looking for something a bit heavier.

Heavier than Bisque? That would be cement Wink

reggiebean · 02/07/2013 12:06

Valium Bisque is just one of the shades, it's not a type of concealer. The powder isn't actually that heavy...

Thanks Vibbe, I'll look into that.

This works for me. It covers mild rosacea and a spotty chin. I put it on after foundation.

DrinaDancesInParis · 02/07/2013 12:23

I use Benefit Boing Industrial Strength Concealer and I love it. Brill for dark circles too. www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk/product/view/boi-ing

valiumredhead · 02/07/2013 12:58

Reggie-are there other shades now then? There only used to be one and that was bisque concealer. I've been using it for years.

reggiebean · 02/07/2013 13:07

Valium Yeah, there are about ten different shades now (think I'm a summer bisque normally Smile)

Thanks Justfornow and Drina. Both have great reviews, so will stop by their counters and see what I can find Smile

Ha! That's how long I've been using it, there was only that bisque and 3 shades of foundationGrin

Clinique anti blemish concealer. Best ever.

I am on my second tube - it lasts for years. You need a teeny, tiny bit. It isn't so gooid if your spots turn to scabs though. it is quite dry and doesn't spread. Has fab coverage for unbroken spots and pimples though.

Cheers Yoni! I like that it's clearing as well... Will add it to the list!

I have a Rimmel "medicated" one - cheap as chips and really good (may have been recommended to me on here).

Yonihadtoask · 02/07/2013 13:16

It's a different consistency to the Rimmel one. (I have tried many over the years on spotty old face!).

It is a thick cream - use sparingly. It stays in place nicely - doesn't tend to smudge off quickly.

nannyj · 02/07/2013 13:16

Laura mercier is good and lasts forever.

reggiebean · 02/07/2013 13:19

Thanks BeCool. I know the drugstore ones are cheap, so I am tempted, but I'm always a bit scared to try them because Boots never has samples out, so I never actually know what colour I'm getting...

I have the rimmel one too and I always go back to it.
Put it on with a small lip brush and paint it away.

AlwaysSleepingBeauty · 02/07/2013 13:26

I use Vichy Dermablend ( the liquid foundation but a a concealer) or Laura Mercier Secret Camoglage.

reggiebean · 02/07/2013 13:28

Can someone send me a link of the Rimmel medicated one? I can only find this one: www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-Hide-The-Blemish-Concealer_6976/

my Rimmel one is about 3 years old (don't tell anyone). So the packaging is different. It's lipstick sized.

scratchandsniff · 02/07/2013 15:15

I suffer with my skin and have tried many concealers over the years. The one I have stuck with for the last few years is Estee Lauder's Double wear concealer. I also use the Double Wear foundation.
