Thick denim jeans no elastane

Where can't get some old fashioned thick denim jeans from? I think it might also be ok if it is selvedge denim. I have tried everywhere.
Topshop mom jeans are quite thick but I cannot get into their frigging jeans. I am a size 14.
I want them to be a looser cut so they don't need elastane like skinny jeans do.
If any one understands what I am talking about and can help me -thanks!

I dislike Lycra/elastane in jeans, it's such a tacky fiber and too much of it makes jeans very cheap-looking and they also lose their form quickly (avoid dryers, sunlight and fabric softener with Lycra clothes). It's cheap for the manufacturers to provide a good fit for a maximum number of customers by adding a lot of elastane in fabrics, but I prefer clothes that really fit without added stretch.

Higher end jeans tend to have less lycra. I have some from 7 For All Mankind that have 2% polyurethane instead of 2% elastane - a bit of give but not the stretchiness you get from lycra. J Brand jeans are also often made from very thick material and have just 1 or 2% of elastane - try the biggest inch sizes you can find. Both can be found for about £60 from sales and discounters (I have mostly used Yoox but there are others like Brandalley and TK Maxx). If you are going for a boyfriend fit, you might explore men's jeans.

I too dislike when jeans are so squishy they re practically lycra leggings in denim effect !
I have mason scotch parisienne jean they re a really nice fit and minimal (2% ) elastene

J brand and also nobody jeans have practically no elasten (especially their straight leg and cult skinnies) absolute best on the market but I ususully buy online Cult skinnies are slightly high waisted and long legged

Yes exactly it's something about them that feels cheap and thin. I appreciate that the elastane helps the fit for skinnies but that's not what I'm looking for.
My partner has APC jeans which I would love but my shape doesn't work. My bum's too big & waist too high.
So I have to start looking at higher end jeans then!

At the lower end fat face jeans have 2% elastane I think, it's very low anyway. I like their jeans as they are cut for my shape (apple) and come in skinny, slim, straight, bootcut and flare.

Try Toast. They have 2% elastane but are good thick denim iirc.

Styling and sizescan be a bit odd with Toast tho.

actually, co-incidentally, I tried toast jeans on yesterday. The denim is good, and thick, and no elasticness but the shape of the boyfriend jeans was atrocious. On me anyway. The trouble is, I think I need elastic to fit over my big arse

I tend to look at men's jeans in the traditional brands like Levi's and Lee for raw denim and selvedge jeans. Selvedge, of course, is generally a lot more expensive sadly.

spanishring · 01/07/2013 14:32

Kittens I'm never sure what size/ shape to look for in men's denim. I've got a skinny friend who looks great in men's jeans but I think that may be because she doesn't have to squeeze herself in!

I might give the charity shops another go.

I fluctuate between a 12-14 with not much of a waist and I like Levi's 505s. I don't remember the Lee style I have. I tend to just go and try a load on and see what I feel good in - although I live in Central London so can go to the flagship stores.

spanishring · 01/07/2013 19:37

Ok I'll check out 505s. Am also central London so should be able to find something...
