Fucking spray tan!

So I am a bridesmaid in Sept and the bride and others are always tanned - lots of hols and good tanning products I guess or maybe naturally that way. Anyway I am very pale and they mentioned maybe I should get a spray tan so I don't stand out. Whenever I use tanning stuff it streaks and looks very orange. So I tried a fake bake spray tan yesterday - did all the correct prep in the days running up to it. Looks bloody awful. Too dark and orange but the worst thing is I look like I am covered in blackheads! Seems I have large pores and the bronzer in the guide colour settles in there. It is bad on my face but worst on my chest and some on arms and thighs. Yuck.

Any ideas? Doubt I will get anything natural with the weather in the UK!

It sounds like you looked better without the spray tan. Do you have to be brown for the day?

AngryFeet · 28/06/2013 22:40

No I suppose not. But I am already 4 dress sizes bigger than most of them - will stand out even more as the pasty one Grin

Go to a salon, different levels of tan. Make sure you exfoliate the day before, at least 12 hours so pores close again.

I did go to a salon. I did exfoliate more than 12 hours before.

Is there no tan that has no guide colour?

Boots soltan do a mousse with no colour guide, or they used to.

Fakebake 60 minute tan is good if you are pale, and easy to apply at home with special mitt. You just put it on for an hour then wash off- it carries on developing after that. Not much guide colour.

If pores are a problem I would try exfoliating & moisturising every day for a week before giving it another go.

Or get some good instant tan - that often gives a really nice natural effect. Just don't sweat or wear white!

I am v pale and salon-applied fake tan looked AWFUL on me.

I asked a beauty therapist with pale skin and she said she has tried countless spray tans and all looked awful.

I have tried even expensive moisturiser-gradual tan stuff and it still looks appalling on me.

Spray-on leg make-up was a disaster.

I have spent £££ chasing a fake tan. Not happening, sorry!

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 28/06/2013 22:55

Try a different brand at a different salon. I'm pale and can't go too dark or I get the funny black hand things

I get a brand called Crazy Angel at my local salon. She does fake Blake too, but says it would be too dark for me

KvassInTheNight · 28/06/2013 23:00

Fake Bake do a lighter version which is great if you just want to take the blue/white edge off Grin

Rocksie · 28/06/2013 23:16

Why don't you try a gradual moisturiser instead? Like Dove? I find that after only one or two applications I get just the right colour for me.

Hi sienna x is an amazing spray tan. Different levels of tan for different people. Honestly I would give it a try!! X

St Tropez mousse gives a nice color or you can have it as a spray ran. If fades very quickly though. It does have a guide color but I haven't got the dark blackhead spots from it.

Beware Sienna X! I have had countless spray tans but had massive reaction to Sienna x and needed antihistamines. Do a patch test first...
