Just realised I get married four weeks today. And I look a mess.

My skin is dull and I get spots.
My hair is long but lank.
My nails are short and they grow funny and break.

Help me Style and Beauty!

My plan so far. Drink lots of water and bash some fruit into my carb loving self. Moisturise every day, morning and night no matter how tired I am.

I am aware that more water and a healthy diet is not going to change me from the rather grey looking woman who spends all day in a call centre in artificial light to a glowing bride, any tips and tricks?

Do you have a budget for beauty treatments at all? Could you get a haircut in a week or so, so it has time to settle in? I'd also go to one of the counters like Clinique and ask them for some trial products for your skin.

Get a microfibre cloth from Poundland - the scrubbier sort is best - and wash your face with your fave cleanser twice a day using it. It will really make your skin glow and get rid of spots.

Go for a walk for at least 30 minutes a day so you get out in the fresh air.

Book a hair cut asap.

Get a shellac manicure, and your nails will grow and not break

If you can get to a MAC or Bobbi Brown counter, get a makeup makeover

But you'll look lovely on your wedding day whatever!

If you have a weekly facial and manicure, it will make a massive difference to how you look on the big day. Also get the best haircut and conditioner you can afford. I did all these things and it worked really well!

All the above, but also

body brush arms and legs every day

exfoliate your face regularly too...

Drink lots of water

Get loads and loads of sleep

Congratulations!!

I have a hair dresser friend who will trim my ends next week and do a practice run. She really know's her stuff, will ask her to recommend a shampoo and conditioner that isn't tesco own brand.

Body brush and cloth from poundland will be picked up tomorrow.

I have heard about this shellac thing from girls at work. Will ask them to recommend somewhere.

Weekly facial is a little out of my budget, would the most basic facial do or is it a case of you get what you pay for?

Basic facial should be fine.
On SuperScrimpers we tested shampoos and mid range such as Tresemme and Pantene came out best value.

Go for a microdermabrasion session at Harley medical group either now and then again in a fortnight or else just once in about a week. It will make your skin look amazing. It's about £60.

Look up all the local colleges nearby who do beauty courses, some do demalogica facials really cheaply.

Saidar · 29/06/2013 20:03

Our local college has closed for the summer (Scotland), but I will remember them ready for our first ever family holidays next year Grin. Great prices, well in my budget. I have my first trip planned already.

Tesco had a special on John Frieda so I have two huge tubes of the Root Awakening Shampoo and Conditioner to try. £4 for the two and so big should last me until after the wedding. Smells divine.
