Best (late) postnatal binding

I've left it a bit late (12 wks) but am considering belly binding. At 3 months post birth I seem to still have a lot of bloating/swelling. I've just bought the Erin O'Brien DVD but thought I'd give binding a go too.

There are so many options though, Belly Bandit, Vespa and the Ladybird, waist cinchers. Big difference in prices too. Anyone tried it? Any recommendations? Am I too late to start and will I just be wasting my money??

Thanks, clueless on this but want to fight the bulge.

What's this? I'm 34 weeks pregnant, might be needing it after.

Apparently belly binding can help reduce the postnatal 'mum tum'. Do a google search on 'Belly Bandit' as an example

I bought one on eBay, it was good for holding everything in but stopped using after a few weeks. Make sure you check the measurements, the one I bought seemed very small and I had to get DH to put it on as it needs a lot of stretching!

I bought the belly bandit and it hurt to wear, although I had had a c section. It smoothed my tummy down a bit under clothes but I don't think it helped it go down faster.

A tummy sticking out most likely because of separated abdominals in which case the best thing you can do is look up diastasis recti, there's a few different ways to heal, the most well
known is the tupler technique and it's also worth looking at the Mutu system.

After my first baby I was swollen and looked pregnant for about 16 weeks, I has laboured for 20 hours and ended up having a c section, my GP sent me for an ultrasound to check all was well and the sonographer told me that she sees women swollen for a long time after c sections and difficult labours all the time, it's more common that you might think.

I am now 7 months PP with DS2 and my tummy has just about gone flat(ish) again. It does take time.

I really recommend it. I bought one from Amazon that was adjustable and found it great post twin pregnancy. It also gave support to my separated stomach muscles (which, I think, they need. Especially when you exercise (said my Physio). Certainly, I think my tum went down faster than it would have, and I regained my waist. If only I ate less, then I might be the woman I used to be. I completely agree that it's a good idea to wear something to support the recti muscles while they heal, especially when you exercise, but I would go for a splint rather than a binder. And just in case you don't already know, whatever you do don't do a situp, it will make a separation worse.

I wore one after a cesarean bit that was more to support the scar than reduce the stomach. I didn't see any actual benefits compared to other times but if it makes you feel better do it.
