My eyelids appear oily and dark - what shall I use to improve the look of them?

I have always had dark circles under my eyes, think it's just my skin tone. But I also have the same kind of discolouration on my eyelids, kind of browny/purpley colour. They are also oily. If I try and put concealer or eyeshadow on it looks awful as it sticks into the oily creases.
What make up could I try to improve the look of my eyes both under and lids? I am fed up of my boss saying I look tired all the time (what she does expect with a 5.00am waking 1year old!!)
Can anyone help please?

Have you tried the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer? It's a bit pricey for what it is, but I think it's excellent and it may help to provide a
more oil-free base for your eyeshadow. I got some with their Naked palette, so lots of lovely nude colours to play with, too.

Worth a shot, maybe?

Thank you Judith. I don't know if I suit eyeshadow really. It just always looks cakey and dry. I fancy just a thin line of liner but the one I have smudges and makes a mess on my eyelids.

I have this problem too (the eyes, luckily DC do sleep a bit past 5am!).

I have the "normal" UD eyeshadow primer which came with the Naked palette and sometimes I just wear this without eyeshadow. I'm coveting another one (Eden?) which has a tint to it.

A basic primer (I use Benefit though the Tesco Barbara Daly one is as good IMO also helps even things out a bit

MAC Painterly paintpot. I have noticeable blue veining on my eyelids and would normally have to wear a primer and full eye make-up to disguise it, but now I swipe Painterly over my lids and I'm done. It's very thick but also blends really well. It can crease if I put anything under it, but on its own it's perfect.

I have the same problem but to a lesser extent. I used to use Benefit's Lemon Aid on my eyelids and found that pretty good.

Was also going to suggest Painterly Paintpot. I use mine as a shadow base but on it's own it really brightens my similarly dark, oily lids.

As mentioned above it's thick (similar consistency to pressed liquid foundation) but a small amount on a fingertip/brush blends seamlessly into the lids.

I find that Lemon Aid creases (I am becoming droopy above the eyes along with the dark oily eylelids, I'm quite the catch Grin) but the Mac stuff sounds like an excuse to blow some more cash worth a try.
