How do you get that 'dewy' look..?

Ok, I have quite dry skin so all those foundations/primers that mattify the skin make me look deadened! Has anyone found any products, serums, primers, foundations that give you a lovely dewy look? Am over 40 now so need some help!!

I have to say BB cream is the way forward. I love it. I have tried loads of them including really expensive ones and the one I always come back to is cheap and cheerful L'Oreal, for me it beats all the others hands down.

If I use normal foundation it dries my skin out, but BB cream is different, plus it seems to 'nourish' my skin.

Sarah Vine recommended in her 50 products for over 40 Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder which is supposedly very good for the dewy look. It also seems it comes in different shades of dewiness. I haven't tried it myself so not a personal recommendation.

Slather your face in oil...every night. Drink gallons of water, eat salmon and avocados, blueberries and leafy greens. Ditch sugar and work up a SERIOUS sweat four or five times a week (and then drink gallons of water). Go to sleep at 10pm every night. Take naps. Laugh.

I bought strobe cream. It's meh. Am I using it wrong?

I think strobe cream is only really for girls in their twenties in music videos.

NARS Sheer Glow foundation

Use Sudocream (or any other zinc nappy rash cream) as a primer under foundation or BB cream. Sounds weird but try it and see! I have little spots of psoriasis on my face and the Sudocream smoothes it all out and makes me look all soft-focus and glowy.

When I say short, I mean so short that it hurts to use eyelash curlers as there is so little to grasp.

I had eyelash extensions done once - she nearly refused to do them as there wasn't enough lash for her to attach the extensions to. Took her aaages . Did like the effect though - but not going to get them done again, as the stinging when they come out was not nice. I also have quite watery eyes, plus wear contact lenses.

BB cream is basically just a tinted moisturiser. All brands do them now, and you can even get CC creams - which are also just tinted moisturisers.

I think BB stands for Banish Blemish and is just a supposedly special type of tinted moisturiser.

CC is Colour Corrector moisturiser and as far as I can make out is another type of tinted moisturiser - but on a continuum, closer to being a foundation.

The Asian BB creams are different as far as I can tell - BB stands for Blemish balm. But I haven't tried them myself, as I live somewhere where they are hard to get (and I don't want to deal with import taxes and so on).

But the Western ones are tinted moisturisers - maybe with a slightly higher SPF, but to be fair, you should be using 7 times as much of the BB cream to get the correct SPF protection.
The BB in Western BB creams stand for Beauty Balm.

They were invented in the 60's, but came to Asian markets some years later. A couple of years ago, Western brands started making some - but they aren't the same as the Asian versions.
