Tell me about 40 year old men and chinos please

Dh used to wear chinos in the summer when we first met. I don't like them, they make me think of geeks or farmers. However, dh is pissed off with only wearing jeans or shorts in the summer and thinks chinos would be a good idea.
So mumsnet jury - are chinos ok for 40 yr old men? He fancies the beigey ones.
P.s obviously he is a grown man and if he wants to wear chinos I shall mind my own business. He just doesn't feel confident to get some without female input.

For men with more muscular legs, Charles Tyrwitt do really nicely cut chinos. DH wears them for work and smart social occasions and looks great in them.

It isn't the chino. Or the cut. It's the beige "spot the Brit on holiday^ thing.

Navy on the other hand looks magnificent on a man's legs. (and slims down the porkers)

He has slimmer fitting ones in the beigey colour from H&M. Wears them with the ever present wardrobe staple, checked shirt

DH wears them lot, even to work sometimes on Fridays. He insists Ralph Lauren at the only ones that fit his combination of skinny with a bit of a bum

My DH has also started wearing chinos to work recently. I was a bit at first as they are outside his normal look. But he says his new job is smart-casual and jeans would be too casual but suits too smart.

Slimmer fitting ones definitely better.

DH is 41 he has a few pairs of straight leg ones in navy beige and tan. I quite like them, a bit smarter that jeans and cooler in the summer.

Dh is in late 20s he just brought some in superdry. They are slim cut and he looks great in them

I'm really puzzled, DH has always worn cotton casual trousers, I didn't realise all men didn't.

I know DH is odd in that he hates jeans, but I a summed all blokes had chinos for summer evenings at least.

Next straight leg chinos no good. They make him look like he's wearing jodhpurs! Three pairs tried and to be sent back. He's waiting for the classic cut to arrive.
