Anyone used Woolovers? I got a catalogue in the post and it looks like very well priced knitwear but wonder about the quality?

Quality excellent - my mother said the cashmere/merino cardi I got her for her birthday last year was the best quality she had ever had ( small cable pattern) and it is lovely and soft. I'm going to order a few for myself to wear over dresses in the office as at their prices you can have more than one.

finlaysmum12 · 21/06/2013 09:32

yep, quality of two cardigans my mum got is excellant

iMe · 21/06/2013 10:59

Good quality, good customer services, regular discounts/offers. It does pill a bit but a bobble-off gadget fixes this. Size wise they come up big, so order a size down.

homebythesea · 21/06/2013 11:42

Thank you- especially on the sizing tip

I have a cashmere-merino that I wear all the time. It washes brilliantly in the machine too - I do take care to put it on Wool cycle with delicate liquid, but am ever so very grateful indeedy that it's not handwash!

Sizing might depend on the cut - I have one Medium from there that is too small but another that is just right. They are excellent though and I love the bulk buy offers - you usually get a few quid off per cardi if you buy 2.

UtterflyButterfly · 21/06/2013 17:22

Received my first order from them last week and very pleased so far. As far as sizing goes, there is a size guide for every item telling you exact measurements for that style, so it's fairly foolproof. I followed their guide and ordered a small in one style and a medium in another, and both fit as I would want them too. Excellent value too. (I'm wearing a long cotton and silk cardigan at the moment - just what I was looking for and couldn't find in the shops)

Aquelven · 21/06/2013 17:22

Quality is really good, I've had a few things from them.

Size wise, if you follow their instructions in the back of the catalogue, you can't go wrong. They tell you to find a woolly you own that's a good fit & measure it across the back, just under the armholes. They give a guide to each of their items in inches at that point across the back & if you order the size that's same in inches the sizing is spot on.

Lilymaid · 21/06/2013 17:36

Warning - if you buy the unisex items, the sizing is men's sizing so huge. Some of the women's only items used to be quite short in length, but the length is clearly shown on website/catalogue.
I quite like the cotton and silk clothes. The cashmere/merino pills quite a lot (you definitely need a bobble remover). Quality otherwise is good.

fossil971 · 21/06/2013 22:23

Quality is good, way better than M&S etc. I just wish they would introduce a few new colours. I recently got a cardigan in "flannel" grey and it's disappointingly dull rather than light and silvery as I'd hoped. I love the pea green one I have though and wear it all the time.

mewkins · 21/06/2013 22:48

They are also very helpful if you email them to ask exact measurements eg length (think they emailed me a pdf with every measurement going!)

morganster · 21/06/2013 23:17

I've got two lambswool jumpers from Woolovers and they've machine washed beautifully, not shrunk, really soft. Would highly recommend them. Had them about six months now and they are as good as new. Will be buying more.

CointreauVersial · 21/06/2013 23:51

Brilliant value for classic knitwear, if you can get past the cheesy styling in the catalogue.

dexter73 · 22/06/2013 07:57

I have sent back the all stuff I have ordered from them as the jumpers are very shapeless even after sizing down.

FragileTitanium · 22/06/2013 07:57

yes, all my knit wear comes from there. Up side is that the quality is fab for the price. Downsides. It's not brora cashmere and on the occasions when I do wear my old brora stuff, I can instantly feel how much better it is. However, it's an unfair comparison as brora is 10x the price. Other downsides is that the cut of all the knitwear is SOOO old fashioned. You will look like a granny, so you have to style it up more than you would for something from zara - who have savvy designers. Somehow, the cardis etc are all almost perfect, but something about the boxyness or just some other detail, makes them grannyish (though it doesn't stop me wearing them). The other downside is that colours are all so dull, boring and horrible. I bought a few things in cerise, which I though would be a beautiful rich pink colour. Somehow it's a horrid colour. I now wear mostly charcoal in their range as it's hard to get that wrong.

Dollydowser · 22/06/2013 17:40

I bought a tie front cardy from them, it was lovely but went very bobbly on the first wear. I sent it back and they refunded me, no quibble, so excellent customer service. Shame about the cardy though.

Spookey80 · 22/06/2013 18:53

Fragil titanium hit the nail on the head!
Want to live them..price, fabric, heritage...but they just miss the point a bit and if there designers got savvy they could make a mint........but then I suppose the prices would go up etc....
Ahhh..

wriggletto · 22/06/2013 21:46

Another who almost loves them - I ordered some cropped cardis, which were brilliant value, but the buttons were slightly too flimsily sewn on, and the colours were slightly wrong, and the cut was slightly too frumpy for what I wanted. But all only slightly. So they went back, and i got a cardi from Banana Republic which has bobbled just as quickly, but has beautiful buttons. With styling tweaks, they'd clean up. But maybe the jumpers are better.

Amazinggg · 22/06/2013 22:00

I have an asymmetric hem pale grey cashmere / merino mix jumper from them and love it. It's washed well with Woolite on gentle cycle and it's so soft and comfy. I don't own any other cashmere though unless you count cashmilion

Woolovers do use natural fibres though, which counts for a lot in my book. I love wool knitwear, I don't necessarily want cashmere and I'm sick of acrylic and viscose.

dreamingofsun · 23/06/2013 10:06

has anyone had any trouble with the bright pink? I've had a couple of things where sort of ink marks have appeared. initially i thought i might have dropped red wine on it, as one mark was in the middle at the front, but i found another behind the shoulder and my other cardi also developed similar stains (i wash on wool cycle with delicate washing liquid and my cashmere has always been fine). i wondered if there was an issue with the dye?

personally i think you get what you pay for. Their things are good value, but don't expect the quality to be the same as your boden cashmere. however, for walking the dog/playing with kids its perfectly good.

homebythesea · 23/06/2013 14:11

So there's something else in life apart from playing with the kids and walking the dog? Wink
