Serious help needed for a new gym kit!!

I have about a stone to lose. My gym clothes from Pre dc still fits, and I went for my first session today. It was thankfully a personal training session in a deserted gym. There was serious wobble of my bum and boobs. And my top kept riding up because my hips and bum have grown. I hated the way I looked in the mirror. I already have a new shock absorber bra which is meant to be ultra supportive but there was still serious boob wobble. Please help me find some decent gym clothes that will stop me looking like a beached whale!!!!!

Don't get TOO excited about Enell bras, they either fit or they don't, no adjustment - I have one that I was all excited about, but it's nowhere near supportive enough for running. Panache Sport is just about okay - bottoms of my boobs stay put, but the tops still wobble, iyswim. So it's not uncomfortable but still a bit of a sight.

My answer to the riding up thing, which I had majorly doing yoga, was a really long Nike rib vest top with a crop top over the top (crop top because I'm really far too booby to be doing fitness yoga in relatively skimpy vest).

I'm just looking at the enell bra and thats what strikes me Dontcall there's only one set of hooks so no room for adjustment

With the enell you have to kind of hoick yourself in - the hooks on mine are inches apart when it's undone and when I'm strapped into it not a thing moves! It also magics my boobs away, which is hilarious (though makes me realise how much slimmer I'd look without them). You don't need to adjust it as it doesn't work like a normal bra.

I'm a big fan of the Freya Active sports bras - true to size and truly supportive. The non-wired one gives a bizarre madonna-boob thing where they're practically conical and don't move at all. I nearly had a man fall off his bike when I ran past in one of those once. DH found it hilarious!

Hotel, does that mean the enell is so tight you can barely breathe ?

No mercury but it squishes your boobs down across most of your torso. Sounds awful and most uncomfortable but really isn't. I suppose it's almost like binding your boobs to your body, but in a modern way!

Thanks all you lovely ladies!! Boob wobble has been sorted with a different model shock absorber, and I managed to find a couple of tops that came down fairly long.

However I am still struggling to find 3/4 capris that will sit at my waist (and stay there). After 2 c/s I have quite an impressive spare tyre and the capris I tried on kept slipping down to rest at hip level which gave me a serious muffin top! Anyone able to help with this?

all I would say is buy a size smaller than you'd think

  • lycra stretches
  • you'll be a size smaller soon anyway
  • tighter clothes once on do not shift around
  • so long as you wear seam free pants, the curves will look better whatever size you are
  • 99.9% of people in gyms only look at themselves anyway

Don't worry to much about the muffin top it will soon be gone. I worried about mine but with hard word it vanished within weeks. Remember this my personal trainer said to me and its so true it takes 4 weeks for you to notice a change 8 weeks for your family to notice a change and 12 for everyone else. After that time more changes will happen I am 8months down the line I lost 2 stone by 3months have now hit my goal weight done with exercise and diet. I go on holiday in less than a month. I am so toned now too just keep going you will get there have little goals. Good luck YOU CAN DO IT.

I may be very shallow to be focussing on the clothes aspect but this is so inspiring! I can't wait to get moving again: DS2 is nearly 3wo and I've barely exercised for 6mo after a taxing pregnancy. Yy to Capri pants from sports direct: mine are Nike ones from the running section and whilst tight, most flattering. After my last pg I wore stretched out longer line tshirts to work out in - the ones I'd worn over my bump until I couldn't get them over my bump anymore. I'd do gym-kit-only washes which made sure they got properly clean after being hugely sweated on.

Roll on 6 week check then I'm back in the pool! Good luck OP.

I dont think it's shallow, it's hard to relax and focus on what you're doing if you feel self conscious about your appearance.

I like Nike capris which seem to cling and support the wobbly bits without making you feel like you've been pushed through a sausage machine. Worn with long tops from Primark of all places. They do great long cotton vests and long bodied lycra tees.

I just got some tight leggings from H&M and was very surprised to find they came right up to my waist :D They also do Capri's.

I did buy the large rather than the medium I need in the trousers and top (I bought long rather than capri's so I dont have to bother shaving my ankles!) so that the top will be long enough and I have hoik my trews right up as my pg progresses.

Bonus as the sales were on so only cost me £13 for top and bottoms. For any runners out there, they had some high-vis vests in the sale too.

If the tight ones are slipping down maybe try looking at the ones that have a drawstring waist. I know Nike do some

When I invested in some quality gym clothes in my favorite colors and training shoes and made the ritual of my training sessions, this really made a huge difference :) www.ryderwear.com.au/ originally from Australia, is focused on looking your best while exercising. I truly believe that when you feel good about yourself and comfy and beautiful in your workout clothes, you get the instant motivation for exercising and being persistent.

know that you are being secretly eyed up simply by virtue of being a female form let alone one who likes to exercise!

This is a really weird comment. And I can't imagine it's helpful for the OP when she's not feeling great about herself.

I don't know what gyms the poster goes to but I've never been to a gym where it's considered acceptable for people to eye up the opposite sex, secretly or not. That's just ew.

Everyone I know concentrates on their own workouts and are too busy worrying about what they look like to worry about what other people in the gym look like!

OP I really wouldn't worry about it. The only person who is bothered about how you look is you. And that will soon change as you make progress.

And for 3/4 capris, have a look at Tikiboo. They're really good quality and have a very solid drawstring waist.

www.tikiboo.co.uk/collections/capris

Make sure you buy the correct size though. Tikiboo advise that you DON'T size down in their capris. I think that's sound advice. Nothing worse than squeezing into too small Lycra leggings and feeling like a sausage about to burst its skin.
