Another deodorant thread- they make me itch!

For years I have used radox deodorant and it was brilliant , but now I think it's discontinued as I can't find it anywhere.
So I've tried dove and sure and they make me itch so much. I'm currently sitting with anthisan under my armpits to settle it.
Soft and gentle works ok as does female lynx but I'm a bit whiffy after a few hours.
Does anyone have similar problems, or know what ingredient causes it??

I have the exact same issue and the only deodorant I can use now is the boring Biosan one? I hate it as it smells a bit masculine (I long to smell of roses and vanilla) but it's the only one that doesn't make me itch. :(

On the plus side, it's really reliable and does actually work so there is that!

I'm hoping someone else pops on to recommend something else!

eurozammo · 23/06/2013 22:19

I have ishoos with deodorant too. I discovered the Kiehl's deo a few years ago and have used it ever since. It seems to be one of the few my pits can tolerate. Unfortunately it's 11 quid a pop.

MmeGuillotine · 24/06/2013 01:02

I keep meaning to try that one but am a bit wary about paying so much for something that might not work and will then hang about my bathroom making me feel guilty forever afterwards. I may give it a try though. :)

buildingmycorestrength · 24/06/2013 06:58

Tom's of Maine is one that doesn't make me itch. Health food shops carry it. I use the unscented one, which actually smells beautifully of coriander...mmm.....

It isn't an antiperspirant, just a deodorant, but I got used to that after a bit and don't mind at all now.

Rosa · 24/06/2013 07:14

I bought the rock looks like a crystal ... Doesn't make me itch but I don't think it works that well either...but I am in 90%humidity and 32deg. I avoid any of the heavy perfumed ones, hate dove, sure, boots own. Bionsen( I think its blue with no aluminium )worked for a bit but then started to sting a bit.

bettycocker · 24/06/2013 08:14

I'm using the wild rose Weleda deodorant at the moment. It's 8 quid though, but it does last a long time. A couple of squirts is all you need. It seems expensive to me, but probably worth the price if it stops my armpits from itching and burning. Lavera deodorants are really good, but they are expensive too.

I tried the rock crystal one and it didn't seem to work.

I tried the Biosan deodorant too. It's rank and I couldn't decide which was worse, the smell of the deodorant or BO. Still felt a bit itchy.

buildingmycorestrength · 24/06/2013 10:11

Rock crystal ones were okay for me for a while. You have to wash the rock, though. I just got sick of having to wet my pits twice a day.

megan84 · 24/06/2013 11:15

Hi guys - I was introduced to Aloe Ever-Shield Deodorant Stick in 2011 which was great as I wanted something which was non aluminum salts and which was non irritating - I was so amazed I signed up to the company to get the wholesale price but for those of you who are having problems finding something great have a look at this - I have used 1 stick in a year which justifies the cost for me anyway and got addicted to the other products too lol - sorry not trying to sound like a pitch just love this product so much and wanted to recommend it - message me if you want further details.

MmeGuillotine · 24/06/2013 11:17

I tried one of the Tom's of Maine scented ones and it made me itchy but I may give the unscented one a go instead as I'm rather keen on the smell of coriander! :)

I really really wish they would make a version of Biosan with a less after shavey smell. It makes me feel a bit depressed having to buy it as it's so completely against my own taste in smells! ;)

I've just remembered that I tried the Tisserand rose and lemon deodorant once and that didn't make me itch! It was quite pricey and didn't last long though so I haven't bought it for a while, alas.

slug · 24/06/2013 12:45

The Body Shop used to do a really good stick that worked and didn't itch.

Naturally, as it was popular and it worked, they discontinued it.

ThePurpleCarrot · 24/06/2013 13:06

Anyone who starts a thread with "hi guys" you can be sure is selling. Thanks but no thanks megan84. I've tried it and it was useless.

LeoandBoosmum · 24/06/2013 17:06

I can't use Biosan. I have issues with deodorant and can use Sanex Dermo Sensitive spray (peach lid) even on freshly shaved skin. It's often on half price in supermarkets so def worth a shot. The smell is really subtle and feminine too.

LeoandBoosmum · 24/06/2013 17:09

I think Kiehl's has a money back guarantee.

ItsintheBag · 24/06/2013 17:10

Sanex Zero is missing alot of the rubbish that may cause you to itch.

MmeGuillotine · 24/06/2013 17:47

Oh, I didn't know that about Kiehls! I may just give it a go then! Thanks. :)

alemci · 24/06/2013 17:51

yes I like the peach Sanex particularly the roll on. I don't itch with that one

GobblersKnob · 24/06/2013 17:52

slug, I use that Body Shop one too, why on earth did they stop making it? It was so good, have to confess that when they put it in the sale for £1.25 I bought 10, but will run out eventually, wish I had got more.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 24/06/2013 20:36

Another fan of Sanex.

LaTrucha · 24/06/2013 20:53

I found Sanex awful, sorry. Made my DH come up in a rash. I use the Pitrok spray one. Certainly not an anti perspirant though.

TwinkleSparkleBling · 24/06/2013 21:24

The rock ones are great. I've been using them for years BUT if for any reason I use a normal deo it takes about a week or so for the rock to work again IFSWIM.

TwinkleSparkleBling · 24/06/2013 21:25

Oh and you can also get the rock ones in a pump spray too if you don't want wet pits.

There's also a roll on in a different brand but I don't think it's as effective.

Inthebeginning · 24/06/2013 22:32

Thanks all!! Sanex is an itcher for me :(
But amazingly found radox in home bargains for 99p a can so i bought three in a bit of a frenzy!
My friend said it could be the aluminium in them, I tried the roll on sticks rather than liquid (creme ones??) years ago but they just made me feel a bit "dry" .
So are the crystals good? Any other suggestions? (Apart from blatant advertising thank you!)

OP posts:
ThePurpleCarrot · 25/06/2013 00:08

Anyone using the rocks should be aware that they contain some sort of aluminium (if that's why you are giving up anti-perspirant). I can't remember the ins and outs but I did research it and chose not to go down that route.

ThePurpleCarrot · 25/06/2013 00:27

Disappointed that Sanex has aluminium as I like their stuff.

ZaraW · 25/06/2013 06:19

Was the Body Shop one Deodry? If so I really miss it it worked well. I read LaVanila (sp) was a good natural choice but it's expensive.
