Question about colours running in clothes

I am slightly bemused by my MILs reaction to a birthday present we bought DN at the weekend. It was bit like this:
Top
i.e. long sleeves layered under a t'shirt, white sleeves, dark colour tee (not as boring as that, it was from his fave footie team)
MIL declared SIL should cut the sleeves off because it will run. We might as well have bought him just a t'shirt!

Anyway, I have plenty of tops with both light and dark colours in and they don't run into each other. Shops colour fast test clothes nowadays don't they? Why else would they sell clothes like that?!!!

She's bonkers, innit.

My mother comes out with similar. "Oooh, you should never have bought a velvet jacket. If it rains, you'll be DESTROYED."

Ignore! Grin

Yep, rubbish. Tops like this are designed not to run else they would be returned. Sounds like she's just being a sour puss Grin

Ive brought clothes like this for my ds and it has run a bit. Now i use colour run sheets you put in the washing machine and its magic. I love the stuff.

Ha ha maltese, also suede boots, you can't buy suede boots incase it rains. I don't get it, I've got suede wet before and it just dries out like other materials Confused

I'm a dry cleaner and rain will 'ruin ' velvet . But the main colour on a top with white sleeves should be colour fast and washed with a light wash. If the colour runs take it back .

I use colour catchers (not the ones from the pound shop as they are rubbish)

Read this as

'Question about running in clothes' and thought....ummm I bet running without clothes raises a few eyebrows

Deathwatchbeetle · 19/06/2013 12:52

I always use colour catchers anyway. Due to sharing just two washing machine and 2 tumble dryers with hundred of other people (ex nurses home). I aslo cannot afford to seperate my washes into whites and colour - mainly cos I don't have many whites. I have never had a problem with colour runs even with a few red tops.

The Lakeland colour catch cloth is good - can be used for 30 washes.
