And what were the results? Am tempted to try it but a bit sceptical..!

I've got an appointment for that in a couple of weeks..I've hardly got any, just a couple either side of my septum, but I want rid for my wedding in August. They just make me feel a bit grubby, I'm always trying to cover them with concealer..

I'll let you know how I get on but I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who's already had it done..

Hi. I had this done a couple of years ago , on my cheeks and sides of nose.
I was using quite heavy make up or concealer to cover the awful aging red patches. I had two sessions and was money well spent. It stings a bit during the procedure but nothing too awful. I am really glad I had it done.

Scarletohello · 18/06/2013 10:45

Thanks Tallua, think I will have a consultation to see what the professionals think. Also, how did your skin look afterwards, did it take a few days for it to look normal again?

From what I remember the redness went within 24 hours but a friend had some small scabby areas which took a few days to go.
I was really pleased with the result my skin looked so much better.
You have to have a patch test first.

libertychick · 18/06/2013 13:31

My DH had it done a few years ago and a friend of mine - I can't remember if they had pain afterwards but both had a great result. I would like to have it done around my nose too - will probably do it in a year or two.

OccultGnu · 18/06/2013 18:23

I would say definitely do it. I am not a regular salon attendee and tend to stick to basic skin care routines. I realised I seemed to be using more and more makeup to cover up the veins so bit the bullet and arranged three sessions (cheaper if booked in threes at the time).

It was a bit painful, I found it like having an elastic band snapped against my skin. however the person operating the machine was very good and stopped whenever I asked. Paracetamol in advance helps as well.

My skin settled really quickly afterwards and had a glow about it for a couple of days after each treatment as if it had kick started some sort of reaction (in a good way IYSWIM). And now I use far less makeup than I used to. Am thinking of having a top up treatment soon as I have got the sort of skin that keeps producing thread veins.

Yes, I've had it done and am having it done again in three weeks. Results are great IMO - the red veins are gone. However, if you are prone to them, they will come back, or rather new ones will appear over time.

You can also have electrolysis to get rid of them. Same deal, basically, and same level of pain, but a bit more invasive as the needle makes a tiny hole in your skin.

SirRaymondClench · 18/06/2013 21:00

I need to have this done. I have a few at the bottom of my nose and also on the sides. I hate them.
For those that had this treated how much did it cost?

juneau · 19/06/2013 09:19

At the clinic I use it's £120 per session (I've only ever needed one session). If you're not in the London area I'm sure it would be less.

Scarletohello · 19/06/2013 09:21

Does anyone have before and after photos?

OP posts:
Talluawiththehoola · 19/06/2013 10:36

Sorry I do not have before and after photos but honestly I feel it was money well spent. I think in all I paid about £280 well worth it to be able to wear very light or no foundation in the summer. My veins have not come back yet but if they do I will have it done again.

Scarletohello · 19/06/2013 11:40

Thanks everybody!

Does anybody have a link to a salon offering it ? I'll need to sit and translate carefully to see if there is anything similar here.

Or I could end up proffering myself for something untoward by accident of misunderstanding.

BerryBlast · 19/06/2013 11:54

Sk1ns (I think that's how it's spelt !) in Cheltenham told me £600/700 for 3 sessions - said usually all done in 2, but most people "bank" the last session for a later date - soddin' "rob dogs", I'm don't think I'm going to go there, but where else could I find a reputable company?

HeyLuciani · 19/06/2013 12:23

I am also interested in this and looking for recommendations in London if anyone can oblige?

Silver66 · 19/06/2013 12:36

bloody hell - I'm in the NW and paid £99 for three sessions at a local salon....

HappyGirlNow · 19/06/2013 12:37

I think the price differences are due to some people having electrolysis and some people having laser - they're different...

Scrazy · 19/06/2013 12:40

I've wasted a lot of money on this. It only worked slightly. It was laser and I would like to find a better way that would work better.

ThiefofTime · 19/06/2013 14:12

I have had Veinwave done and it was great. 3 sessions for £100 on offer in Leeds. The downside was that my skin was scabby where the needle had gone in for around 5 days after. I would say my skin is quite delicate though (hence the veins!). I will have it done again, if required in the future, as I love the results and have heard from that laser doesn't work on all skin types.

Pusspuss1 · 19/06/2013 19:03

Juneau - can I ask, where did you go in London? Sounds good!

I've had both IPL and advanced electrolysis for this. The results were ok with IPL; some reduction in redness and it got rid of one or two of the worst veins, but it cost an absolute fortune for a course (something like £500 for 4 sessions, from memory) and it really hurts! Electrolysis hurt a lot less, but the veins all came back within a few days. It is brilliant for milia, though.

Think I might give Veinwave a go next...

juneau · 19/06/2013 21:02

Not London - I'm in Herts.

catslave · 19/06/2013 21:52

Our local does VBeam - anyone tried it?
