Can anyone recommend good supporting shoes that also look good?

I'm recovering from a bad sprain to my ankle with torn ligaments! My physio said I need some good supportive footware. She said maybe trainers, can anyone recommend something supportive that I could wear everyday that won't make me look silly and out of fashion?

I've been looking for something too. I have deformity in my achilles tendons, and the physio recommends trainers but I feel daft in them.

I did have a pair of Clarks Active Air lace-up shoes that were very comfy and supportive, and I could fit my othotic insoles in them, but they were very ugly (think Cornish pasties on my feet).

I'll be watching this thread with interest...

Ecco are good for supportive shoes, and some of them are ok. I have bunions, so I am used to supportive, comfortable footwear!

Josef Seifel are comfortable, but not cheap.

Mr Gin sprained his ankle a month or so ago and he's been wearing his converse high tops.
Apparently they support the ankle nicely... Bare in mind he's male and hasn't RICE'd it properly and has just moaned about it.

Grin yes men don't always do resting etc well!

I have worn converses before I hurt my ankle and didn't find them comfortable then, but I have since heard they need to be broken in.
