I have bare minerals one, but the pump bottle thing doesn't get all the product out, so it gets messy which is a pita. So what do I buy instead? I wear bm foundation, so don't want colour, just a really good base.

I love Laura Mercier oil free primer.

I've tried others, but always go back to this.

Revlon Photoready is a good budget option, and I've seen people on here say that Lanacane Anti Chafe gel has the same ingredigents as Smashbox primer.

Another vote for Revlon, tis v good Smile

Smashbox Photo Finish

It depends on what you want from a primer really.

I've been quite happy with the clear Smashbox for just creating a smooth surface on the skin. The green version is good for that too - but I don't think that it takes much of the redness out.

Inglot has a clear primer as well, and it's also fine for creating a smooth surface on the skin.

The primers from Inglot and Smashbox are nice, but very silicone-like. I don't feel like they do much but create that smooth surface - but that does make the makeup look nicer and easier to apply.

L'oreal has one in a pot, which is like polyfilla for the face. I use it around the nose area where I have a few bigger pores, and they disappear completely. The pot is quite small, but you only need a tiny amount of it. It's this one: www.superdrug.com/loreal/loreal-paris-studio-secrets-smoothing-primer/invt/585912&bklist=

Mac Prep + Prime SPF 50. Keeps shine away all day, make up goes on perfectly and stays. And SPF 50 is always a good thing.

I had a loreal one in a pot but it seemed to melt under my makeup, so I ended up with streaks of primer mixed with foundation.

I have tried several primers but now use Clinique BB cream. I only need a small amount and then blend my normal foundation lightly over the top (they showed me at the counter). I find it holds my make up in place better than the primers.

I use Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base.

It smells divine and is very smoothing without being heavy.

I also have bare minerals primer and never feel like the 'pea amount' they recommend actually covers my face, I also have barbara daly makeup primer you can buy from Tescos, feels very nice as I just ran out of rimmel primer which I am unsure was worh the money!

My favourite out of the ones I've tried (Barbara Daly, Smashbox photo finish clear one, Boots No.7) is the Benefit Porefessional. It doesn't feel over siliconey (like the Smashbox) and made my make-up last well and look good. When I've finished the Boots one I'm going back to the Benefit one even though it's a bit ££.
