What colour eyeliner and suchlike?

I wear hardly any make up and then it's always the same old, same old: brown eyeliner (blended), blusher if you're lucky, brown mascara if you're really lucky, lipstick if it's some kind of state occasion.

I've just had conjunctivitis and do not want to use the same make up that I had before. At my disposal I have a Boots and a Body Shop. There's also a small department store with a Clinique counter.

I have fair skin, grey-blue eyes, greying chestnut brown hair and I wear glasses. I'm 42. I have to buy stuff that's gentle on my skin and eyes, as I react easily to a lot of cosmetics. Oh, and I generally can't be arsed to spend much time applying, but I do want to look a tiny bit more gorgeous.

Any advice on colours, brands and products? Thank you.

Clinique is supposed to be good for sensitive eyes.

I have fair skin, blue eyes, dark blonde hair and I'm 30, and I prefer a brown eyeliner for day wear as black is too harsh with my colours. I don't use a classic liner, but instead I use an eye shadow and a push brush.
This is the brush: www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/145/814/Products/Brushes/Eye/212-Flat-Definer-Brush/index.tmpl
And this is the method I use - it's far more natural IMO and it's so incredibly easy - he shows how at around 2:30:

I use a dark brown eye shadow for this. There's no glitter in, no shimmer. It's from MAC and is called Mystery.

For an easy and quick day wear I use a light colour, such as Grain from MAC all over the lid. And maybe Naked Lunch (also MAC) in the inner corner of my eye - it's lighter than Grain so makes me look more awake and fresh-faced. I use a 217 brush from MAC to apply the shadows. And then Mystery as described above.

Here's a pic of Mystery, Grain and Naked Lunch: i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd361/princesspig3/DSC_0875_zpsd915b770.jpg

One thing that is very important IMO is to clean your tools often. Wash the brushes with shampoo and leave them to dry (either lying down or hanging with the brush end down). Change mascara every 3-6 months and if anything causes irritation, stop using it right away.

I've never had a make-up reaction (but I don't use a load of different brands so maybe I've been lucky)

Body Shop do some nice colours and good value.

It's just as important to take your make-up off with something gentle too. I know alot of people use babyoil for eye make-up, but that makes my eyes water just thinking about it.

I use Gatineau (can't remember the name but it's blue) .I don't pay loads for "Big" brands but I'd rather have 3-4 good quality products that I use than go to Boots/Superdrugs every few weeks.

WRT colour- buy some pencils- maybe a set of colours- and try them.
I've got hazel/brown eyes. I don't wear black (too harsh) but I love plum, green, navy, grey, brown.

Barry M are good (I've just re-discovered them ) very soft smudgey pencils.If I want stay-put make-up, I use Mally.

I had to start wearing more make up too.....it's worth it really...

What I'd did was start to wear black liquid eye liner, I may change to brown.

But anyway. Only at the sides on the top. Not underneath. One straight line, then two more line to make a triangle, then join the ends up. Makes a massive difference.

Also why no mascara? That's a no brainer for opening the eyes.

I use eye makeup remover as well.....,

Have fun!!! Also what's nice is to get a really thin brush and coloured eye shadow and make eyeliner of the shadow around your eyes in colour, naren, blue, turquoise etc....,,sometimes I put the black eyeliner on top....my bf commented once when I did this......
