Dress for a 'do'

Ok, because of a charity I am involved with I am going to a reception at the Houses of Parliament with my MP the week after next - aaaaargh. Panic. I have nothing smart to wear, my work is very dressed down so I don't have any 'works' type of dresses.

Ideally, I would like a summer dress, midi length, not clingy on the bum or belly as due to my excessive consumption of that popping candy chocolate mine are larger than I would like. (I'm a size 10-12 5 foot 9")

I'd love something stylish that I could wear again so not too workish but definitely quite covered up! Budget I suppose up to about £60 ish.

Thank you!

Have you looked at Warehouse? I'm on my phone so can't link but I was in there at the weekend and they had some lovely dresses/skirts in your budget :)

This has thin straps so maybe not covered enough but a lovely shape.

bright

over budget but worth a look

More businesslike

Oooh thank you - some lovely ones there,
I absolutely love the first one from asos and the one with tulip sleeves too. I could always wear a lovely crisp white vest underneath the strappy one.

I have lots of really beautiful jackets that I think could go over both those dresses too.Do you think a mustard round neck topshop jacket and tan shoes would work - might just have to place a cheeky order :-)

I am planning a trip to Zara on Friday when I'm off work and warehouse is just over the way so will make sure I call in. Thank you both lots, I am keen to make a good impression.
My DD2 has a life limiting genetic condition (CF) and I am
meeting with my MP to talk about organ donation. I can't do anything about what's happened to her but feel like doing something by going to this reception - I just want to feel confident.. Thanks again.

Any other suggestions very welcome!
