Non-smudging mascara- does such a thing exist?

My mother asked me to buy her a black mascara that doesn't leave you with racoon eyes. All the ones I've ever used did smudge, but I thought perhaps I might get some recommendations here. TIA Smile

Max Factor mascaras never smudge for me - they're the only ones I've found! It might depend whether the smudging is caused by her eyes watering or by the oil on her skin. If it's watery eyes, then has she tried waterproof mascara? If it's the oil, then try Max Factor :)

I am a mascara junkie and the only smudge free one I've found is Estée Lauder Magnascopic. My fave!

Cult Japanese brand DHC mascara. Best for non smudge and I have tried loads. Gives a natural look, so if you want the clumpy fake lash look it won't give that.

motherinferior · 11/06/2013 12:53

Try one of the tubey ones - Blinc, or Clinique's Lash Power. Everything else is smudgerama on moi.

motherinferior · 11/06/2013 12:55

ah, I see the DHC one is the same technology. Estee Lauder does a similar one but it didn't work on me.

I second the Max Factor recommendation, I have a zero tolerance policy for smudgy mascara, I can't bear stuff that either smudges off during the day, or stuff that, even though you think you've removed every trace before bed, reappears magically during the night as panda eyes. My fave is Max Factor Masterpiece Max (black tube) but the MF Masterpiece in the gold tube is also excellent, a bit lighter and more suitable for day wear.

Brands I have tried and rejected include: YSL, Boots No.7. Maybelline, Benefit, Estée Lauder and Lancôme.

Thanks all. Hmm, I don't think I can get Max Factor here. Good point re: water or oil causing the smudging. Will call her and ask. Keep the recommendations coming!

Max Factor Masterpiece or Lash Adapt No 7 - both fab!

GreyWhites · 11/06/2013 20:25

Lash Adapt smudges on me, darn it. Not as badly as some but it also does the overnight secret panda thing too which I HATE.

GreyWhites · 11/06/2013 20:26

Order Max Factor off eBay, that's where I get mine from, it's generally much cheaper than Boots etc too.

BeattieBow · 11/06/2013 20:49

Only one I've found is Clinique lash power.

Ineedabettername · 13/06/2013 09:28

Estée Lauder double wear but it's very natural looking

middleagedspread · 13/06/2013 10:39

I 2nd/3rd Clinique lash power. I was advised it on here & it's great. And you can take it off with soap & water.

isthisdirtyorclean · 13/06/2013 11:14

Clinique lash power, once again! And you can apply it really quickly, no faffing/correcting/refining. If ONLY they would make it in navy...

proseccoandwine · 13/06/2013 11:27

Bobbi Brown do a no smudge mascara which works for me - it can also be used over the top of other mascaras.

Tweet2tweet · 13/06/2013 11:28

DHC better than Clinique lash power. Have tried both and DHC is cheaper so and added bonus...

MolotovCocktail · 13/06/2013 11:30

Clinique's High Impact Curling Mascara.

motherinferior · 13/06/2013 12:19

DHC only does black, sadly.

ygritte · 13/06/2013 20:50

I use Clinique Naturally Glossy when it's in a Bonus time offer. Outside these times I use Max Factor masterpiece....whether it's the specific waterproof one or not it doesn't seem to budge.
Blinc is amazing and NEVER smudges but comes off in "tubes" and seems to uncurl my lashes.

Today I read about Max Factor 3 day mascara and a Boots No 7 stay perfect one in Grazia that are super long-lasting.
However, my days of wanting this are over......and now I remove my makeup each night...like a good girlWink...
But, for holidays I might just invest...£18 for Max Factor one...if it's pool worthy.
