I'm looking for recommendations for natural or organic:
-shampoo/conditioner
-shower gel/body scrub
-face wash
-face moisturiser
-eye cream
-baby products
and off topic but cleaning and household products too!

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks, I'll need to check their ingredients out in future.

This thread has some great suggestions! Thanks!

I had a browse of a few sites last night and have ordered:

Pure Thoughts-
carrot and wheatgerm facial soap, lavender and jojoba whipped shea butter and lavender and chamomile soap

Green People -
Mint toothpaste
Children's scent free sun lotion

Pure Nuff Stuff -
Hair and Body bar in Ylang ylang and lime

Looking forward to giving it all a go!

I need to have a google of making my own cleaning products etc. Does anyone use those balls for washing machines instead of powder?
I'm sure I saw a recipe for some handmade face and body scrubs on Pinterest so will search those out.

Verysmallsqueak thanks for the tips on using almond and coconut oils - will give those a go!

And thanks to those who mentioned Weleda and Method. Never heard of either of those brands so will check them out. I do buy Ecover washing up liquid, but am gradually trying to rid my life of nasties.

DD (14mo) has developed some nasty eczema and has allergies too and am convinced environmental factors play a huge part in it and in the general trend of rising cases of CMPI and allergies. And the report on toxin avoidance in pregnancy has given me another stick to beat myself up about anyway!

OP, to make a cheap body scrub, you can mix sugar, an oil (I have used olive oil in the past) and a few drops of essential oils which you like.

Sugar is very good for exfoliation purposes. You should be able to find specific recipes online.

Oils from Akamuti. Cheaper than melvita etc and organic.

I ocm with rice bran oil from Akamuti. It's amazing for removing makeup and lightly moisturising. I also have pomegranate oil and plum kernel oil. Lovely.

Green people stuff is great. Recommend all of it.

Weleda and dr Hauscka are nice too but beware they add a lot of alcohol to their products which isn't great if you are sensitive.

Zoya for organic "5 free" nail polish (free from 5 most harmful ingredients). From Lucy Rose online or Naturisimo online.

Rms makeup. It's fab.

Neals yard is lovely but pricy.

I subscribe to Amarya beauty box.

Junes box contained Ren BB creame 15ml. Gielly Green repair shampoo 50ml. Green people sun tan lotion 25ml. Oxygen hand & body lotion.

I have very sensitive skin so the box means I can try things without expensive mistakes and you get 20% off too.

Recent discoveries have been Blend Collective, Green People, John Masters and Dr Hauschkas rose face cream. All lovely.

I use Body Shop Rainforest shampoo and conditioner, Lavera shower gel, Green People roll on deodorant, Method cleaning stuff, Liz Earle facial cleanser.

HTH.

I looked at the Green People deodorant but was put off by the potassium sorbate. I don't know what this is, but a bit of ill-informed googling suggests this is a nasty? Or am I reading into this wrongly?

you could try the pure range by M amd S
m.marksandspencer.com/mt/www.marksandspencer.com/Pure-Skincare-Instant-Radiance-Cleanser/dp/B001GB7AHI
the product linked ls ninety five percent natural or something similar

LentilAsAnything · 11/06/2013 08:56

Dog poo is natural! Doesn't mean it's good for your skin!

LentilAsAnything · 11/06/2013 08:59

OP, I use the EcoBalls for my laundry, and my stuff comes out perfectly clean, even when DS used reusable nappies. Laundry doesn't come out with that artificial chemical laundry smell that we are all used to and associate with fresh clean clothes. You can add a few drops of essential oil to the wash if you want a smell.

Faith in Nature have free delivery on all orders over £10 for the rest of June.
Love their hair stuff & baby range (Humpherys Corner baby wipes are £1 a pack atm & they're the only non-reuseable wipes I like to use).

Ethical Superstore usually have 20-25% off sales ever few months & they sell Method/ECover/Bio-D cleaning stuff (and lots of nice bits too).

thebestpossibletaste · 11/06/2013 10:42

Gently, not sure about potassium sorbate, I was just looking to avoid aluminium and there are so few deodorants that don't have it as an ingredient and actually work. Green People deodorant works for me. My mum uses Jason lavender roll on deodorant, she swears by it.

ZaraW · 11/06/2013 10:45

Dessert Essence is also nice especially the pumpkin hand cream and the almond hand and body lotion.

Jason deodorant isn't strong enough for me though I sweat a lot. Potassium sorbate is used instead of parabans so I have no problem using Green People deodorant.

I have replaced dettol antibacterial liquid, bathroom cleaner and window cleaner with destilled vinegar. When the antibacterial liquid finishes I refill it with the pure vinegar I do not dilute. Yes the smell is strong but will go away within minutes. My tiles and mirrors have never been shinier.
and vinegar also killes mould unlike antibacterial liquid and is completely safe to touch or inhale.
I also use it as a fabric conditioner in the washing machine. My daughter has eczema we are trying everything we can to make it go away.

avagosling · 20/01/2015 16:48

I've gone back to basics and never looked back. My favourite 'raw' products are from Fushi, I make my own combinations up. Eg the oil cleansing method with castor oil, rosehip/moringa oils for moisturizing with lavender/gerianium essential oils. Their Argan& Amalaki shampoo is amazing. All the other natural shampoos make my hair really tangly

Nellymay · 20/01/2015 17:28

I use purenuffstuff and handmade naturals in alsager Cheshire for most things - facial moisturiser, shampoo and conditure, body lotions hand cream

Nellymay · 20/01/2015 17:29

Sorry I don't think my link works - they're easy to find though:)
