Hazel eyes.....what colour eye make up do you wear?

I just can't seem to get it right, and so just always wear a fairly nude colour eye shadow etc as I just don't know what colour to go for. I've done this forever.
My eyes have golden brown, green and yellow in them. I just feel like nothing looks right. What should I try?
I'd love to be able to do something different, and love the idea of a coloured eye liner. I'm going to a wedding at the end of this week so have a few days to purchase and practice!

I'm rubbish at eye shadow but have just bought an Urban Decay eyeliner in Stash, a greeny gold and it's lovely. Really soft and blendable. My eye colour is similar to yours.

I can wear golds, mauves, browns, and khaki

TiredMule · 08/06/2013 20:21

Ooo Nell-that sounds lovely!

Chopstick, those are the kind of colours I should really try.
Just remembered the other problem-my eye sockets are fairly deep so I always feel like I look like I've been punched in the eye when I wear anything darker....how can I combat that?
My eyes are also quite big so anything I do i always feel like it looks very obvious-especially re slightly darker shades.

Lilac/purple really brings out hazel eyes.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/06/2013 20:30

My eyes are brown/hazel and I used a BarryM eyeliner pencil to line the inner rim (metallic plum shade)

I was Shock - it looked fabulous.

TiredMule · 08/06/2013 20:40

I've always stayed away from lilac, plum, mouve as I didn't think they'd work, but it sounds like I need to give them a try!

OP I think you would suit greeny golds too!

I know exactly what you mean about feeling that anything too dark makes you look like you've been punched in the eye.

There's a lovely coloured gel eyeliner by bobbi brown called Forest. It is green/gold/brownish colour. If you go to one of their counters and ask them to try it out on you (no pressure to buy) you could see if you liked it? I think it would be perfect for your eye colouring and deep-set eyes.

It is tiredmule, a bit spendy but worth it - have it on good authority from DD1 (teenage fashionista) that Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner is nearly as good so might try that next time as I nearly fainted at spending £14 on an eyeliner. Grin

70 - will try that - I need all the help I can get these days.

I usually wear pinkish brown. However in summer (hayfever season) my eyes look pretty much grass green, something to do with being slightly bloodshot I think. So if I can bear to wear any, it's a lilac shade.

chocolatespiders · 09/06/2013 00:06

green shimmer one from Mac

SavoyCabbage · 09/06/2013 00:06

I've got maybelline eyeshadow quads in enchanted forest here and that browny/ purply colour at the bottom is amazing for my eyes. The others are useful too.

starfishmummy · 09/06/2013 00:10

I wear browns and beiges for when I want a minimal look. Otherwise I probably go for sludgy greens. I also wear plum and have even worn black.
there may even have been yellow in my youth

VestaCurry · 09/06/2013 00:19

Plums, purples, bronzes, gold-shot deep olive or olive without the gold. Dark blue (with a purple hue) looks good too. MUA is an insanely inexpensive brand I've recently found, only tried the eyeshadows (do use with their eyeshadow primer as it's brill), but they seem to be as good as MAC which I've used for years but are 10 times or more the price!

2cats2many · 09/06/2013 00:20

Purples and golds.

Chipstick10 · 09/06/2013 00:52

Re the darker colours making you look as though you have been punched in the eye, I wear a lighter colour on the lid, like pale gold for example then put dark colour at the outer eye iykwim.
