Am I supposed to just start 'having a go' at the manky bits of skin on my feet or do I have to do a pedicure sort of thingy where I soak my feet first to get the best results???

I do my feet when they are dry so that I can tell where the hard skin is. I then wash my feet and moisturise them.

Happy feetGrin

I use the foot file dry. If having a shower after then I use a body scrub on them in the shower. Dry then plaster with foot cream and pop bed socks on. Glamorous I am not

I've tried the lemon juice rub. Actually I squeezed lemon juice into a bowl and rested my feet in it then rubbed away. Loads of hard skin came off. Also done it after a bath and I find it works best after bath or the lemon juice, rather than dry.

Lemon juice sounds interesting seize - hadn't realised how bad my hooves had got until this sudden hot spell of weather where sandals and strappy shoes have become a footwear option, so will give that a go and then put cream on, followed by socks as suggested by EMUZ and live in hope that there is some improvement! thanks for the advice/tips ladies.

Just using mine and the lemon juice now. I will need the hoover!! Smile
I've also had the brainwave of trying it on my scaley knees. Will let you know if it works once the lemon juice has had time to do its job.

SoggySummer · 09/06/2013 12:02

So what do you do with the lemon juice?? How much?? In a bowl of water???

Is it soak then foot file??

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 09/06/2013 12:04

softest knees since 1968 Grin

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 09/06/2013 12:05

I cut a lemon in half and rubbed it on.

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 09/06/2013 12:06

I got one yesterday and filed away over a bin. It is AMAZING and I now have lovely tootsies again.
Will wait for lemon juice guidance and do that next time too.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 09/06/2013 12:10

I'm wondering about pineapple as it has those enzymes in that act on skin.

On DH's 'lucky' days, yes Wink Shock Grin

I squeezed out the juice of a lemon into a shallow tray and just stuck the soles of my feet in for 10 mins. I dried them and then set forth with the foot file. Coming off in chunks it was (Yuk) and beautifully soft! I always rub in flexitol heel balm when I've done the filing.

dontyouwantmebaby · 04/07/2013 12:22

just wanted to say that I noticed Sainsbury's are selling an exact same version of the Soap & Glory foot file for about half the price eg around 4 quid.

cannot remember the name of the brand 'hard scrub' or something Confused the file is a baby blue colour, not white like S&G.

JedwardScissorhands · 04/07/2013 12:32

The lemon juice makes it much more effective. I just rub half a lemon on, after I've juiced it, very frugal. Leave it on for 10 mins then scrub away, wash feet and moisturise with flexitol.

Use lemon juice on knees too ; AHAs very exfoliating. Don't scrub them with the foot file though!!

killedanotherthread · 04/07/2013 12:45

The Sainsburys one lacks the "toe file" last time I looked. So if you don't need that it's probably a good saver.

SingingSilver · 04/07/2013 13:31

Mine worked wonders, but I think I actually knackered it on first use Grin

My feet were in a bad way (you don't want to know how bad!) and now they're looking quite respectable, but the file edges seem dull. I'll have to pick up another for maintenance.

FattyMcChubster · 04/07/2013 13:36

How does it compare to m&s miracle foot file?

YoungBritishPissArtist · 04/07/2013 18:35

I have a question, why does one side have circular, raised bits and the other side doesn't?

JedwardScissorhands · 04/07/2013 18:47

Raised side is for heavy duty filing, the other side for 'smoothing'.

YoungBritishPissArtist · 05/07/2013 07:40

Thanks, Jedward

I've got half a lemon leftover in the kitchen, so I'll have a good go on them later!
