Babyliss root boost for fine-ish hair?

Am looking for something to help lift my fine-ish hair and make it look thicker! researched the Babyliss big hair thingy but to me it seems to be designed for those lucky lucky people with THICK hair, and lots of it..which isn't me :-( (judging from reviews that is)
Am not bad with a hairdrier and round brush but hair does seem to droop after a bit. (is growing towards shoulder length) Used to use velcro rollers but when I try them now they make my style look very dated (youngest, age 15....said I looked like a proper mum...arghhh!Didn't really mean it as a compliment methinks...)
Use Joh Frieda volumising spray (anyone tried the Swell hair stuff out there by the way?)
Beyond fake hair like Ms Cole anyone got any thoughts?!

I had a Root Boost, and returned it. My hair is fine although I have lots of it, but I found I could see the crimped bits peeking through, which wasn't a good look! Suspect it would be better on thicker hair. I now have a Big Hair though, which I use all the time - would recommend one of those.

What sort of stle is your hair pusspuss1 if you don't mind me asking..long or short?

I don't have thick hair and the BBH worked well on my hair. Re volume sprays - I've got one at the moment called Alterna Bamboo 48 hour volume spray and its the best one I've used (and I've tried a lot). Think I must have bought it on one of my trips to the US. About to run out and trying to track it down - found it on a few websites, eg Amazon, but seems to be about £17-20 a bottle Shock - not going back to US until September so might have to pay that - it makes my hair so much thicker I feel I can't live without it! Blush

I was given a BBH by a lovely mumsnetter and now I wouldn't be without one! I have fine straight hair, just past my shoulders, with layers. It's brilliant, even with a quick use on the top layers I get a good result, and if I'm going out and spend some time using it on all my hair it's so bouncy and lasts all day. If your hair is not yet shoulder length then I'd say get the BBH with the smaller barrel.

I gave my Babyliss Root Boost away on here to another mumsnetter. Like Puss I could see the bits I'd crimped and I just wasn't impressed with it. I've since noticed a woman at work who must use the Root Boost as I can see her crimped bits too Grin.

I looked at the Root Boost but was scared off by reviewers saying after a few months their hair started to break off where they'd used it. My hair is a bit brittle anyway but I can live with it splitting at the ends, can just trim them, but the thought of it breaking at the roots too awful to risk!

Got a BBH recently and it works wonderfully! Takes a bit of practice and doesn't save me any time, but I love the results - my hair does look thicker and bouncier and sort of devolves into lovely loose natural-looking curls after a few hours. Much prefer it to straighteners.

Hair just getting to shoulders (growing out graduated bob...and boy it's taken a long time!) so think prob wil go for smaller barrel. Thanks for all your help netmums!

Sorry to be slow - mine is longish, a couple of inches past my shoulders, but I think a BBH would be good on most lengths except for very short.

IdaBlankenship · 09/06/2013 21:10

I can sell you my BBH Pusspuss if you want. I used it once and it made me look like I had gone through a hedge backwards (I have thick long hair). I'm going to stick on Ebay sharpish otherwise!

Pusspuss1 · 10/06/2013 10:26

Think you mean Febel - I already have one, thanks!

Bakingnovice · 10/06/2013 10:39

Are the cheaper ones on eBay worth buying? They are half the price of amazon and are new.

Ida how much you selling your for?

IdaBlankenship · 10/06/2013 11:21

Sorry Pusspuss!
BakingNovice - have PMed you
