Suddenly I've got a 'tash!!!

It seems to have appeared overnight. I bleached it a few weeks ago (found this quite exciting, saddo that I am) but it is still hairy IYSWIM.

So removal is the only option. I don't want to wax as I think this grows back thicker so was thinking of maybe IPL.

Would you go for a salon or maybe at home. Have heard good things about the philips Lumea or just seen an ad for the nono!

Anyone got suggestions please? I can feel it when I run my tongue over my lip and I don't like it much Blush

Watching with interest as in the same boat. Mine is blonde though so no one sees it but me but i HATE it.

Corygal · 05/06/2013 09:37

Epilate. I had a blondie, which I also loathed because you catch little furry glimpses of it in bright light, bleach or no.

I had it threaded, but epilation is faster as one can do it oneself, and thus hurts less. Enormous relief - as a finale I brush the machine over the chin a couple of times to get any spiky random lurkers.

If you can't face epilation, then keep bleaching but dye your eyebrows, because that creates a contrast that knocks the tash into touch.

happyyonisleepyyoni · 05/06/2013 10:14

You can thread it yourself, there are tutorials on youtube. It is painful at first but you get used to it. I used to bleach mine but it has grown thicker and harder to bleach. I was pleasantly surprised that it grows back much slower than I thought as you are removing the hair at the root. Within a week of bleaching it needed doing again. in between threading I pluck any strays.

TwinkleSparkleBling · 05/06/2013 22:13

Hmmmmm with threading/epilation does it grow back thicker?

I think I want it gone forever!

I posted about this the other day.
I got an Epistick (from Amazon for £1.80) which is like home threading and it arrived today.
In 5 mins I had worked out how to use it properly and removed my tash and beard! The results were just as good as when I've had it threaded in town and I did it in 5 mins literally!

JennySense · 05/06/2013 23:57

I've waxed for years but this week I had my second laser treatment [e-light] at my beauticians.
After the first treatment I think the results were pretty amazing - I'm hoping in a few days time the visible results will carry on being great.

BeeBawBabbity · 06/06/2013 07:42

You're right to be wary of waxing. I did it for the first time a few days ago and now I'm sporting a lovely "tash rash" that seems to be getting worse!

happyyonisleepyyoni · 06/06/2013 12:24

sudocreme is meant to be good for getting rid of rash. i use it as a preventative measure. (also great for sunburn!)

carrie74 · 06/06/2013 13:55

I've only had to start acting on mine in the last year. I wax, and just get it done when in for bikini / legs. It doesn't need doing as often as they do, and wouldn't have said it grows back thicker - in fact I don't really notice the regrowth until it needs doing again IYSWIM?

BeeBawBabbity · 06/06/2013 20:28

Thanks happy I'll remember to try the sudocreme next time!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 06/06/2013 20:36

I am a beauty therapist and wax everything. Hair does not grow back thicker or darker if waxed/threaded/epilated/plucked (it's all the same thing in that you are removing hair from the root) in fact regular waxing weakens the root so hair grows back more slowly, becomes easier to remove and eventually becomes sparser over time.

Redness usually calms down within 12hrs and providing the therapist uses hygienic methods and the wax isn't too hot (and you're not sensitive to ingredients in the wax) you shouldn't experience any problems.

Ingowing hairs and rashes can be prevented by following the correct aftercare.

CVSFootPowder · 06/06/2013 22:18

I've always been told that laser/IPL is no good on blonde hairs as it's not effective due to lack of pigment in the hair.
Can someone please clarify?

Feathercroft · 07/06/2013 18:00

I had mine waxed & it DEFINATELY grew back thicker! I was wondering about the nono, seen advert the other day.

patienceisvirtuous · 07/06/2013 18:03

I am as dark haired as they come and I am a loyal waxer - have been for years. Only needs doing once a month and comes back finer not thicker!

Dancergirl · 07/06/2013 18:46

I've been having mine professionally waxed for years and imo the hair doesn't grow back thicker. There's MUCH less of it now. I've got dark hair, don't know if that makes a difference. I can leave it a good 6 weeks and even then there's only a few odd hairs.

patienceisvirtuous · 07/06/2013 18:48

Me too Dancer.

hollyisalovelyname · 07/06/2013 18:51

NoNo got terrible reviews.

buildingmycorestrength · 07/06/2013 19:25

I just got an epistick and it seems great. Thanks to the many many people who have recommended!

Pusspuss1 · 07/06/2013 20:13

What about getting some electrolysis, if it's only a small number of hairs? It's meant to be the only permanent method of hair removal (as opposed to hair reduction, which is all that lasers and IPL can achieve). If you're near London, I can recommend a lovely girl who's done some electrolysis for me. It's cheap as chips compared to IPL etc too.

FarleyD · 07/06/2013 20:17

Was just going to say what holly said - I've heard nothing good about NoNo, so avoid that option.

SirRaymondClench · 07/06/2013 20:49

For blonde hairs apparently an Alkaline Wash is a good treatment and depending on the severity of the hair growth ends up being permanent.
