If you have dry, pale skin, what is your favourite foundation?

I don't need heavy coverage, and would use a tinted moisturiser except I've never found one pale enough - they're all a bit orange on me. I'm very white with pink undertones. Most foundations cake up and make my skin look worse than it does without foundation. But I do want something to even out my skintone. Any recommendations?

My recommendation is Illamasqua Skin Base foundation. I converted earlier this year and it is amazing stuff.

Fwiw I'm pale with pink undertones (i.e. Irish Grin ) and have spent my entire adult life looking for non-yellow non-orange foundation!

Dr Hauschka translucent Foundation in 00 ( though the 01 is fairly pale too). I used Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser for years but switched to this a few months ago and love it. Very subtle, definately evens out skin tone without making you look made up
Btw very pale with tendency to dryish skin

Sorry about link but this rimmel one. I'm pale and freckly , it's like a tinted moisturiser but with light coverage .

frugal I'm glad it's not just me who can't get on with Bourjois HM - I find the palest shade very yellow and mask-like, at least for the first 15 mins it's on, even if I use a foundation brush and blend. Is the HM serum different/better? Will give the Revlon Colorstay a try.

I splashed out on some Armani foundation last month, and it's really lovely. Not as insanely expensive as I was expecting, either. I wanted the new one that India Knight was raving about (Maestro Fusion?) but the assistant steered me away from it because I've got sensitive skin.

I love Terry Light Expert. The palest shade is very pale and has pink undertones, and it feels fabulous on your skin. I get it from space nk.

I'm extremely pale, and I use Bobbi Brown skin foundation. It's very lightweight, but still manages to cover dark circles just enough. I put one pump onto the back of my hand, then apply it with a foundation brush, then blend in with my fingers.

So many great recommendations, thanks all! Will be off to swatch as many of these as I can when I next go shopping :) Illamasqua sounds promising Bunny.

I mix a lightish foundation with a bit of moisturiser and a serum. Goes on smoothly, covers really well and smooths my dry pregnant skin. Haven't found that brands make a difference :-)

Nervy strangely I hadn't thought of mixing it with moisturiser - that might rescue a few of my left over foundations that are too drying. I have a bottle of nars sheer glow that needs using up - colours great but its too heavy. Not sheer or glowy at all Hmm

I love love love MAC Face and Body. They have a pale pinky one that is just right for me. I used to avoid wearing base at all because I always looked chalky and orangey simultaneously. Now I wear it everyday because it goes on so closely to my skin tone I can do it really quickly. And I've been getting lots of compliments on how 'well' I look, so I think it's a good'un.
