Hyperpigmentation help

agirlcalledsandoz · 03/06/2013 22:28

I have hyper pigmentation marks on my face that make me feel self conscious as they're on my upper lip so I'm worried they look like a moustache Hmm
I don't wear foundation as my skin is good apart from the marks so am at a loss as to what foundation I should buy to cover them up ? Or should I get the GA acid peel I've seen on here before ? Would that help ? Or a serum that helps. A No7 one had good reviews and I know Clinique do one. I'm using a factor 50 SPF on my face and reapplying throughout the day so they don't get worse but they're still there.

Please help ! X

Bumping for you OP.

Dr Organics at Holland and Baretts do a skin lightening cream. If you use every day it gradually lightens any pigmentation. I had a greyish looking mark on my nose after pregnancy and you cannot see it now.

ceramicunicorn · 03/06/2013 22:49

I had a course of mandelic acid peels which helped. I haven't managed to find any serum that did anything at all.

I use max factor colour adapt foundation just on my cheeks where I have awful hyperpigmentation.

how about a tinted moisturiser like laura mercier?

FrugalFashionista · 04/06/2013 09:05

I have strong hyperpigmentation too (looks like a
bad prison tattoo) and the only thing that works is heavy-duty concealer worn under high spf tinted sunscreen. I use LRP fluid corrective foundation, Dermablend would work too if it matches your skin tone.

JemimaPuddle · 04/06/2013 13:10

I've been using Alpha H liquid gold radiance ( I use a fair bit of their stuff) and my terrible pigmentation is starting to fade finally.
I always use a factor 50 on my face too, Ultrasun so I don't need to reapply during the day.

Find someone who can prescribe Obagi products for you x

agirlcalledsandoz · 05/06/2013 09:38

Thanks for everyone's replies. Going to try the max factor foundation as it's not that dark I'll need to dermal end and I like maxfactor make up. I don't think a tinted moisturiser would cover it. I am a foundation novice though, do you put face powder in over it ? What one ? Don't want it to look cakey.

Where do you buy the liquid gold stuff from ?

I used to have very obvious pigmentation on my forehead and cheeks. About 5yrs ago i bought a home acid peel kit online from Bravura and did a weekly peel for the required amount of wks (i can' remember exactly how many) and adhered to the timings etc. It was a aha peel. The change was gradual over the weeks but the difference was amazing, my whole face was clear. I live in Madrid and 5 yrs later my skin is still clear. I highly recommend.

I've been using the new YSL serum. It has just won all the awards and has some special new formula that nothing else has.

It is amazing and is sorting mine out, they are totally fading and my skin in general looks brilliant. (unusual for me!)

It's called 'Froever, youth liberator'

My DSis has had a large sun spot thing on her cheekbone for the last ten years, it really upseet her and within 4 months of using this serum it disappeared toatally - that is what prompted me to buy it. Bloody expensive though.

agirlcalledsandoz · 05/06/2013 22:02

Thanks Napolean. I'll have a look for that. I've read a lot about peels on here. From what you're saying the marks don't come back even I the sun ? Mine fade in the winter but come back in summer even with sunscreen.

Vichy dermablend.

cornypedicure · 05/06/2013 22:58

I've just ordered some of the bravura peel.
I fancy the YSL stuff but it's £££

daftdame · 06/06/2013 13:28

Just found a link, the Royal Jelly Skin Whitening Cream here:

www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/iq.asp?SearchText=Dr+Organics+Skin+Whitening&Search.x=0&Search.y=0

This really worked for me, no nasties in it, and not ££££££.

agirlcalledsandoz · 07/06/2013 10:59

Thanks Daftdame ! That's more i my price range than the YSL one. Will try that and see how I get on.

Did you get it from pregnancy? I got it with both mine and they did eventually fade away and almost gone now

JemimaPuddle · 09/06/2013 08:38

Sorry just seen your reply. I get the liquid gold radiance from QVC, it sometimes comes up in eBay too. It's different to the original liquid gold.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/06/2013 10:00

Retin A cream fades pigmentation, it's getting rid of the 7 sunspots I had on my cheekbone. Plus you have to wear sunscreen with it so it forces you to look after your skin.

agirlcalledsandoz · 09/06/2013 10:35

I got it from changing pills, went away then came back in pregnancy, went away for the winter and re appeared with the summer. I was only wearing factor 15 sunscreen.
