Hello all,

I'm recovering from falling from my bicycle, the stitches in forehead and eyebrow have been removed and I've just bought some Boots Scar Serum. I live in a very rural area and it's quite a trek to any town with a reasonable population. I understand the scarring will take a few months and I'm willing to try any home made recipes. I have to hand solidified Coconut Oil, a naice handcream containing Rose Otto oil, Essence of Rose Water. Could anyone recommend something I could concoct from easily accessible preferably cheap ingredients? TIA!

A friend of mine had a nasty car accident years ago, she had deep scarring on her cheek. Although it is still visible if you look closely, using avocado oil has worked wonders to reduce the scars.

She raves about it. I've got dry, acne scarred skin so I looked up the benefits of avocado this morning.

It seems as though its great for the skin.

There are plenty of homemade recipes on the internet for moisturizers and face masks.

I've got a fresh avocado, honey and cream ready for my first go tonight Smile

this scar cream is phenomenal stuff. It's not available in the UK but delivery is free over 35 pounds, all their products that I've tried have been great TBH.

Silicone patches are supposed to be very good too. Oh, and a sunblock will really, really help.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil all the way - you can buy via amazon.

What Jenny said, Trilogy rosehip oil is AMAZING. My dog bit me on the lip and a combination of rosehip oil and high tocopherol vitamin e oil has made the scar virtually invisible.

I'm using vitamin E oil on a scar, from a local whole food store. It's cheap and no nasties in it.

From the ingredients you have to hand, I'd use the coconut oil as is. My mum swears by it for pretty much everything. Just pat it on very gently until your scar has healed (you don't want to pull or drag at them), then start gently massaging in when they're properly healed up.

I also used aloe vera gel for the itchy stage but you may be past that.

Hi again! Thank you so much for the brill replies! I've a physio appt for my shoulder on Monday so I'll ram-raid Holland and Barrett before heading back to Tractor-ville.

Definitely Vitamin E oil. I think it's cheaper if you buy capsules from Holland & Barrett rather than buying an expensive cosmetic version that's meant to be applied to the skin. You can pierce the capsules and rub the oil into the scar. Sounds like a nasty accident. I hope you're feeling better.

Hi Villa, It was a bit nasty, I usually hurtle along on my racer, but because it was a totally new route for me, was going too fast for the conditions. So grateful for the paramedics, the staff in A&E and DH and DD who were there at the time.
