Three little fashion questions...

I have this dress and these shoes for a wedding I am going to in July. How do I complete the outfit? Does it need a necklace or maybe just a bracelet or two? Also hair, not a hat wearer but a small fascinator or fancy hair clip might work, have bra strap length hair that in all likelihood will be up. No bag needed as will still be carting changing bag around.

Number two, will probably need tights as my legs aren't all that pretty and have some veins that look better covered up. Have seen some M & S ones mentioned on here as not looking too bad, can someone link to them so I can see the right ones?

Lastly, and unrelated, I would really like a casual dress that I can fling on when the weather is nice, that can either be dressed up or down with a change of shoes. In my mind I see it as a wrap jersey dress with 3/4 length sleeves in a navy colour or pattern but damned if I can find anything close in the shops - any ideas where I could look?

Thank you all

  1. No necklace, a simple bracelet would be fine. I'd go for a hair thingy in a colour in the dress other than blue (green, yellow). Something like this maybe:

  1. Have you tried tights in a tin, Sally Hansen airbrush legs or similar? If you can find a good colour for your skin it's a great warm weather/open toe shoe tights alternative.
  1. What's your budget? Something like this any good? navy floral dress
SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 19:28

I thought either a chunky pearl or bead bracelet, something to make it a bit more of a statement than my standard silver effort, may check out accessorize...

Haven't tried tights in a tin but do have the garnier summer skin thing so maybe that would avoid the need for tights, just one leg does seem to be especially veiny - more so since I was pregnant.

Dress is lovely colour and patterns wise but would worry about the fabric, spend most of the day chasing after my 10 month old, bending up and down to change nappies so I thought jersey would be nice and stretchy and wear well. Budget ideally £30 but would stretch to £50 for something perfect I would get the use of.

another wrap dress?

SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 19:47

How about a bracelet like this ?

OP posts:
SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 19:49

Or in green

Like that dress, unfortunately only available in a size 6 - bugger. Would need a 10/12. I never remember about places like asos, will have a browse there - thanks!

Sorry no help on the wedding

But what about this Phase eight 59.99

I have it and it is FAB, so easy to wear, can dress up, down what ever you want.

Very fogiving too, if like me you need a bit of forgiving.

GColdtimer · 03/06/2013 19:58

Op there are quite a few dresses in another thread at the moment, I think it is dress with sleeves or something. On phone so not east to look. Live those shoes.

SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 20:00

Do like the phase 8 one too, would be lovely for evenings, was thinking of something maybe a bit less fitted on the bottom half for running around in during the day. Forgiving is very good though - some days I need a full pardoning never mind forgiving!

Will go hunt down other thread, thanks for the tip off...

inneedofrain · 03/06/2013 20:07

I´d really give it ago, particularly if you can try it on somewhere in town.

It does look fab in the evenings, I like to team mine with big earings, necklace, etc.

But I have also worn it with boots and sandles during the day, it can be really casual if teamed with brown (oddly enough)

There is this one too same price which is nice, but I woudl suggest trying them on

Oh and I know what you mean about a full pardon!

SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 20:52

Thank you, I was in store the other day and was looking for them but wasn't sure, there were too many to choose from. Will see how my tanning experiments work but will get tights as a back up. I'm pale skinned and in Scotland so the chances of a natural tan are slim to none unfortunately!

OP posts:
mewkins · 03/06/2013 21:37

They are a very natural colour - really flattering and not grannyish - honestly!

SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 21:38

Sounds perfect, I just think that legs without tights look a little bit undressed, just not sure how they will go with the shoes I have, don't want too obvious a toe seam.

OP posts:
WorkingtoohardMama · 03/06/2013 21:48

M&s sell sandal tights, that leave the toes exposed, I've only worn them with peeptoe shoes, not actual sandals, but might be worth a look.

ivanapoo · 03/06/2013 22:43

Yes you can get toeless tights but check they work with your shoes - I once bought some for a wedding away from home and you could see the seam going across my foot as I was wearing fairly skimpy sandals. Not a good look, I tried to make my legs less corned beef like with the help of some bronzer!

The last time I saw those disco bead bracelets was a while back... They remind me of being rather "happy" on nights out clubbing!

SoulCakeDuck · 03/06/2013 22:50

I've never seen them before (the bracelets) just showed up in a google image search. Are they not just plain beads? There are some Thomas Sabo ones that are very nice but a bit more ££.

OP posts:
GColdtimer · 04/06/2013 19:47

No they are shiny and glow in the dark. They are lovely. Went to a disco beads party last month and the bracelets are really pretty.

SoulCakeDuck · 06/06/2013 13:25

Thank you twofalls, will order some, if they're no good then have time to find something else. Just to decide which colour to go for, think I'm leaning towards the turquoise.

OP posts:
GColdtimer · 06/06/2013 20:08

The turquoise ones are lovely, i have some punk ones and dd2 lives playing with them. They were adorning a pumpaloon for some time. Grin
