Another bra thread - comfortable underwired bra sought

Since losing a stone in weight last year, I find it impossible to find a comfortable bra. The problem is I'm quite boney (sp?) around my ribs/under breasts, still got my chunky thighs though, so a wired bra hurts. But I haven't got much in the way of boobs, so need a bit of wiring to lift me up Blush

At the moment I'm wearing sports bras as these are all that seem remotely comfortable, but I really want some, nice normal bras.

By the way, I'm a 36A.

are you positive about your bra size? Measure under your bust to get your back size then bend over and measure loosely around the fullest part of the bust. The difference between the two gives the cup size e.g. 1 inch diff is an A cup, 2 inch diff is B cup, etc

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/06/2013 20:27

I am going to guess the size is the issue. Please measure yourself as described here

MandyWatkins · 01/06/2013 20:34

I measure up as a 34B but when I try that size on its much too tight round my back and the cups are empty Blush

I've tried 34Bs in all sorts of makes and none fit correctly. A 36A is what fits, but the underwiring is very uncomfortable.

Did you measure according to that guide or is that what a shop has fitted you at?

MandyWatkins · 01/06/2013 21:07

According to the guide Stat

Most issues with bras being uncomfortable are due to size - especially with underwired bras. When you tried on the 34B, did you try scooping the tissue in from the sides?

Are your measurements 34 under, 36 over?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/06/2013 21:22

Oh, panache atlantis are often recommended for smaller cups

PoshPaula · 02/06/2013 08:38

I've got a small bust, was 34A for years then got re-measured and now wear a 32C. (I look exactly the same). I find Triumph bras are very good - they fit brilliantly, look pretty, and the underwire is comfortable.

ExcuseTypos · 02/06/2013 09:08

Agree with PoshPaula regarding Triumph bras. I'm skinny and need a really comfy band around the chest. I've just bought a couple of new ones and they are brilliant.

QuiteOldGal · 02/06/2013 09:23

I wear these for everyday wear they are very comfortable. I am size 34C, I used to think I was a 36B for years

I think it's playtex who do ones with a plastic shell instead of a wire. Not sure what they called but are ultra comfy.

Many thanks. I shall hit the shops next week and work my way through all your suggestions Smile

Go to a small independent bra shop that stocks brands like Prima Donna. Or Rigby & Peller if you are near London. They stock Prima Donna too. Like my local bra specialist they don't use a tape measure, just feel the shape of your rib cage with their hands & know what will fit you. You'll never go back to other brands afterwards! They're pricey but if you hand wash last many times longer than cheaper brands & they fit!! Smile
