Colours, Season, Pallet Advice?

inneedofrain · 31/05/2013 15:33

I was just reading a thread her today, and I have looked at the HOC website and kettlewell BUT I just don´t have the money at the moment to get my colours done and the logistics of it are very difficult (don´t want to out myself) Would anyone like to have a guess?

Skin = pale, (very pale have a nightmare trying to get foundation), burns does not tan at all, I am covered head to to in freckles

Eye´s = Techically hazel, but much more green than brown, and have a amber band around the iris

Hair = brutnet with a tun of orange red undertones (naturally) but normally died to a deep plumy / purply redish colour

I look like death warmed up in anything grey.

I am more than happy to answer any qyestions and yes I know the techincally no one can do my colours over the internet, but I just want to know what people thought might be likely! I´m miserable at the moment and in serious need of cheering up

OP has freckles, this is what makes me think autumn.
Think it's a rare cool person with those, though may be wrong!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 01/06/2013 00:12

Can't comment on that, I'm afraid - I do get light freckles in summer, but not sure if those are the kind you mean.

hollyisalovelyname · 01/06/2013 09:45

So freckles are Autumn?

MarshaBrady · 01/06/2013 09:46

I get freckles. Did the test got light spring. No idea if that's right.

AlanMoore · 01/06/2013 09:54

If op is soft/muted she could have a neutral skint one and freckles but look 'cool' enough to wear silver...

Have a google of polyvores for soft summer & soft autumn op?

MadAboutHotChoc · 01/06/2013 10:09

Cool seasons have freckles - its all in the skin tone, not your hair/eye colours.

MadAboutHotChoc · 01/06/2013 10:15

Purples= summer or winter, depending on the shade but aubegine is a winter purple
Electric blue = winter
Post box red = winter
Orange red = autumn
Cream = autumn/spring
Ivory = summer
Silver = Summer/Winter

I think this thread is becoming confusing Confused

inneedofrain · 01/06/2013 11:35

Ok, would it help if I put a picture up?

I have just goolged polyvores for soft summer & soft autumn op, I don´t think the soft autumn would work on me, I would definately go more for the soft summer, but is that becuase I like the colours more? iyswim????

I think I would look pretty good in these soft summer

Where as I cant see this working for me soft autumn

But I could be totally and utterly wrong! I have lived in black for so long, that don´t really know what colours suit me anymore

OP posts:
lowercase · 01/06/2013 12:07

On the border for autumn and winter apparently.

Your OP cries out autumn!

Put a piccy up then!

inneedofrain · 01/06/2013 12:18

Skin tone def looks cool...

I was sure you are autumn but looking at pic...

Ish your natural hair ashy or golden?

Put as many pics as you can.

inneedofrain · 01/06/2013 12:51

Well it used to be very brunet and full of red undertones

BUT these days, it has gone mousy and yes very ashy (which I HATE) so I die it back! plus I have a tonne of white hairs now!

Hang on I´ll see if I can find some other pics, but I don´t have many cause I hat having them taken

I think deep autumn - google it ( can't link )

You can wear some browns? And the deeper tones of autumn.

Julia Roberts is deep autumn.
Will pop back later with another two penneth!

inneedofrain · 01/06/2013 20:10

Ok, I have spent this afternoon like a total pleb! Out in natural day light with a load of different coloured fabrics, paper etc.

Cool colours definately look best
Terracotas´ and muddy colours look awlful next to my skin
Silver jewlery definately looks best.

Ok so that I think makes me a cool tone ish tone

I have had to scrap my hair right back as I think that was confusing the issue!

I think I have worked out what doesn´t work!
Rusty colours,
Mustard yellows to be honest all yellows
Muddy greens
All definately not good on me

Teals, puples, some pinks (dusky ish), blues, purply grays, minky colours, some browns (not caramelly though) look good

Some colours look ok, in small doses when combined with others like darker gray looked pretty good with a good dose of another colour

I´m not very keen on "hot" colours, like really bright pink etc, but again think they could work as an accent colour

I cant work out weather blacks or pure whites work. So I think if I kind of avoid them for a while

I have no real idea what season that makes me, but I do feel a bit better oddly enough about trying out some diffent things and I have found all sorts buried in the back of my wardrobe that I think is probably the basis for some looks

Thank you everyone that posted, and please feel free to tell me I am totally wrong!

MadAboutHotChoc · 01/06/2013 20:38

Sounds like you could be a summer then.

inneedofrain · 01/06/2013 21:13

It's really odd to spend so long looking so many colours

I think if I maybe can get a few mix and match items it might help cheer me up

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 01/06/2013 22:07

lowercase · 01/06/2013 22:32

I'm winter, look at my pic...

inneedofrain · 02/06/2013 08:32

If you would like a look I will put it back up again

All help is very gratefully received

I just like to be very carefull with images on the Internet

I really think you are better off just buying a couple of cheap tops in the colours you like and then saving up for a proper consultation.

Not only will they tell you your best colours, which ones to avoid (e,g I can't wear ice yellow even though its a winter colour) and how much of each colour in the palette you can wear (e.g not all winters can wear 100% of their outfit in black) - all this information will save you so much money, time and effort in the long run.

lowercase · 02/06/2013 13:55

They do vouchers I think...could save for a consultation that way?

Bottoms don't matter it's what's by your face...

Try matching your favourite clothing pieces to Internet palettes, whichever season has most, go with that.

Photograph yourself make up free in different tops?
Get a better idea of what works.

daylily · 02/06/2013 14:04

I liked this website, it has a page on using lipsticks to work out your season. Haven't attempted it though!
