For a 'large', just-under-40, wibbly type with millions of old stretch-marks up to the waist.

If you are going to a place where most people will be wearing bikinis, get a bikini.

Or get a tankini, then, when you are walking about, maybe a bit self conscious, it looks like a one piece, but you still have the comfort of being able to go to the toilet without the big wriggle dance, and also, if you feel comfortable when you are there, you can always roll it up into a bikini.

I'm just under 40 with aHUGE wobbly tummy and am going for a tankini this summer. Not brave enough for a bikini, but always feel self conscious in a one piece.

A/I hot place. Probably bikinis.

Problem with a tankini is the gap between bottom and top is the bit i'd rather hide, the wobbly stretched bit.

Would a high waisted bottom make my arse look the size of a planet?

But a long body tankini should cover that bit too? I bloody hope it will!

I'll give some a bash when I go swim shopping. A week before we go. On the off chance i shed a few sizes.....

High wasted bikini's are great. I'd have gone for one myself but I've got a chubby beak just above my natural waist Hmm

these are brill and extremely flattering. hold in a multitude of sins. IIRC there's a lot of similar styles in the shops (online anyway) ATM, but the chances of them being as strict in terms of control as the Esther Williams ones is slim.

Mrslettuce, those are lovely, but ££ for a couple of weeks in the sun, especially if you need 2. I've just bought a couple of these so cheap, and really nice on. I was Shock, expected them to be awful and to have to spend the next 4 weeks hunting!

MrsLettuce · 31/05/2013 14:43

Glad you're happy!

They are pricey, yes, but so very worth it. The quality is excellent. Believe me, I'm absolutely not one one to spend cash for the sake of it or for a brand name, most of my clothes are second hand. But, I have one of their swimsuits and for the first time in years I'm more than happy to wear swimwear in public. For that I'll make do with one suit and wear it until it falls apart.

They are lovely indeed.
