Hi folks

Looking for some advice. My 5 year old daughter seems very sensitive to sun creams. She also has a touch of hay fever...so I suppose I'm not totally sure whether its the cream or hay fever. The two seems to go hand in hand.

Anyway, we've had our first good day yesterday and with no sun cream I went to the pharmacy and bought La Roche-Posay stick for face and cream for body having spoken to the assistant that it was dutiable for sensitive skin. Cost a fortune. Today I notice her face slightly puffy and the skin on her back slightly spotty.

I'm tending to think its the cream. Anyone else in similar position and found something that doesn't cause a reaction. I suppose what works for one won't work of another. But worth asking in case there is something even on prescription.

Many thanks

Hi there, my ds has an allergy to the chemical that provides UVA protection which is in 99% of sunscreens, even the organic ones. I have however found a chemical free sunscreen called laverna which is zinc based. It's available online.
The consultant did say true allergies are extremely rare and most children just have a sensitivity. In which case there is one called sunsense which I believe is doctor recommended.

I find barrier sun creams better for avoiding allergies than the chemical ones. The Badger one has worked well for us www.badgerbalm.com/c-24-natural-sunscreen.aspx

yy, she need a physical barrier sunscreen. My Australian friends swears they're unbeatable.

Thank you very much. Great advice. And yes sensitivity is probably better description rather than allergy.

I'd go for green people childrens range - the unperfumed one

I'm sensitive to sun cream and I use Delph. It's available on prescription for certain skin conditions but quite cheap to buy compared to others at around £6.99. Because it's allowed on prescription most pharmacies should be able to order it. It is tested to medical standards.
