Without it looking bouffy iykwim.

I have lots of hair so not a case of thin or fine, it just tends to be sleeky sort of rather than full and bouncy.

Any products I can buy in boots tomorrow?

I've got a Babyliss Big Hair, I swear by it. Takes a while to do but well worth it IMO.

WipsGlitter · 28/05/2013 22:14

Ditto. Mine changed my life.

Pendipidy · 28/05/2013 22:15

I was thing inking about buying a Big Hair... What size barrel should I go for for mid length hair?

Mendi · 28/05/2013 22:35

Get that new Charles Worthington volumising product. About £15 in larger Boots. My mum has big bouffy hair and totally rates the new CW stuff. You massage it into the roots of your hair after washing, rinse, and dry. I tried it too and it definitely works but I have a short straight bob so prefer a sleeker look.

Not usually a fan of John Frieda stuff but the Volume range is excellent and way cheaper than CW.

ivanapoo · 29/05/2013 16:45

OP have you tried volumising powder?

Madamecastafiore · 29/05/2013 16:48

Ooooohhh no what's volumising powder?

I did buy some John freida volumising shampoo, conditioner and spray.

Am going to due hair in a mo and then do all the puffy mumble in the morning.

Will report back.

It's basically backcomb in a bottle. Tresemme, Schwarzkopf, and I think CW all do versions (try a big Boots). You massage the powder into the roots for instantly big hair. They do leave a bit of residue so are better for that sort of retro big hair look rather than sleek and glossy.

Tuppence2 · 31/05/2013 18:01

I use this on dry hair, after washing it with just shampoo (no conditioner) it literally is backcombing in a bottle and worth every penny!
My hair is usually so thick and heavy that nothing gives it volume and lasts more than 5 minutes... Well, nothing until I discovered this

kiwigirl42 · 31/05/2013 18:30

I've got shoulder length dead straight hair and have just bought some Enrapture heated rollers and love them. They make my hair look the dogs!

mercury7 · 31/05/2013 18:35

I find using crimping irons near the roots quite good for adding volume to hair

Mrsrobertduvall · 31/05/2013 19:47

I have dead straight thick hair in a choppy bob .
I always used to use Frieda's volumising stuff but recently have started using A small amount of Orofluido oil. Hair is really bouffy in a good way.

The volumising powder is great..I use a Revlon one.

Murraylover · 31/05/2013 20:21

Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer's expensive but it gives super swishy amazing body & shine. V05 hot oil conditioner 1/3 cheaper, but PK's like photoshop for hair Wink

cahu · 31/05/2013 22:56

Murraylover Which Elasticizer do you use... I think there are a few in the range...?

mamalovesmojitos · 31/05/2013 23:06

John Frieda mouse and then blow dry upside down does it for me. Though I have to take breaks from drying so I don't pass out!

Nehru · 01/06/2013 01:53

Elasticizer is crap. Save your money
