The title says it all really! Can travel into central London if necessary.

HOC or CMB? Or someone different?

Thank you!

Watching this with interest, as I'm toying with the idea myself. Am also in North London, but happy to travel into centre, or Herts if necessary.

MyFabulousBoys · 28/05/2013 20:18

Yes, will travel into Herts also

Think there was a thread earlier saying that John Lewis on Oxford St do it now...

JennySense · 28/05/2013 20:35

I think if you visit both HoC and CMB you can search for consultants.

charitygirl · 28/05/2013 20:39

My consultant was Fiona Ingham who is HoC and based in Primose Hill. I would absolutely recommend her.

Maraki · 28/05/2013 22:43

I had Fiona too! She was really fantastic!

Hello,

I had my colours done just under 2 yrs ago. Morag Young of HOC did mine, I thought she was excellent. I will go to her again for my style day when i return to the UK.

Shopping for clothese is so much easier and enjoyable now.

Napoleon66 · 29/05/2013 10:33

oops, I meant to say that Morag is based in Kensington.

TenthMuse · 29/05/2013 12:47

Ooh, thanks all! Definitely sounds worth doing, and Primrose Hill is fairly near me, so might give Fiona a go.

Was also hoping for a bit of reassurance - I'm only 32, and several people have told me that getting your colours done is something only much older people do! While I'm certainly no trendsetter, I do like to dress fairly fashionably, and am a bit worried that the stylist's frame of reference in terms of shops, specific styles etc. might not be the same as mine, iyswim. Most of the colour analysts I've come across do seem a fair bit older than me, and while this isn't necessarily a problem, I was wondering if in your experience their advice is relevant to all ages and tastes?

jumpinghoops · 29/05/2013 14:27

I had Fiona Ingham too and would also recommend her, she's been doing it for a long time and clearly knows exactly what she's doing. If it helps OP, I went to see her when I was 32 (now 33) and I found the morning marvellous, practically skipped out of there down to Oxford St to look at things in my colours!!

I'm 'only' 35 but I wish I'd had it done 10 years ago! I also definitely dress fashionably, and it's truly easier now.

A lot of the HoC consultants are a little older, but honestly, they are very un Bridget Jones's mother, and it made no difference..

TenthMuse · 29/05/2013 15:14

Thanks - feel thoroughly reassured about the age thing now! Think there's still an odd perception out there that it's only for the older woman (people keep mentioning the mum in Bridget Jones!)

And apologies to OP for hijacking thread!

MyFabulousBoys · 30/05/2013 22:15

Sorry for disappearing! Will go with one of the recommended women I think. I did find their pictures a little intimidating - I also worried about the whole Bridget Jones Mum thing as they did seem that much older! Saying that I am in my 40's so maybe not that far behind! I will be going on my own - not 1-2-1 but haven't got a friend who wants to have it done. Do you think I should take a friend with me for opinions? Is this even allowed or necessary?

Am very excited and strangely nervous too. Can't wait to have it done now!!!

Thank you for your help Thanks

Can I ask why Travel? I don't have a good eye for colour at all so if I am being told this is your colour, it would be nice to have a friend make the right noises I think. I don't have the money for an individual session and no-one I know wants their colours done.

Is it really so frowned upon?

If it's a class, you get all the feedback you need from the other people in the group (you really do, even though you don't know them. More so than a friend sometimes as they are objective). If there's no one else booked in you can always ask the consultant if you can bring someone along - I know a consultant who encourages one-to-one clients to bring someone, as it means she isn't just the big bad voice of authority - the friend always sees it too and can help convince the client if they are a bit alarmed!
