Looking for a stylish, non-mumsy rainproof jacket with hood...does one exist?!

Hi all, title's self-explanatory really - I'd always on the look-out for nice practical, hooded jackets that don't make me look too much like my mum on holiday (God love her).

Then someone on a thread re new baby advice the other day noted that they would advise that all new mums purchase a rainproof jacket (that they don't acutally hate wearing) with a hood, as it's nigh on impossible to push a buggy and manouvre a brolly whilst also doing the 300 other things you were attempting.

I have an ancient and faithful navy blue lightweight Regatta jacket (TJ Hughes bargain) but it's not in any way stylish. The closest I've come so far is the Rosey jacket from Fat Face - not ideal but fairly inoffensive (sorry can't link to it from phone).

Any help gratefully received!

Saw some fantastic ones in TK Maxx last week. Might be worth going in to have a wee look

Laquila · 16/06/2013 10:29

I tried on the Rosey jacket in FF yesterday and sadly felt distinctly mummy...I think I'm going to hold out for a discount code and then go for the Seasalt Seafolly one, unless I get the chance for a trip to TK Maxx before then!

I just bought www.matchesfashion.com/product/151574

In the matches sale - exxy but it looks fantastic, fits perfectly and is not all mumsy

Nagoo · 16/06/2013 13:05

I've got a merrell wakefield but again it's quite warm.

marleebrodie · 16/06/2013 14:07

Hate to say it but the Boden rainy day jackets are good.

I have one of the oilcloth type ones from a few years back and it's brill.

Big hood keeps you dry .

Sale coming up too.

Thanks all

Just seen this and love it, apart from the stupid Superdry logo on the back!:

Ooh that's nice and quite smart too. I agree abotu teh superdry thing (but i'm not a fan of the superdry logo or any logo splurged over everything)

I have this ASOS one, it goes with absolutely everything I love it, people always ask me where I got it and it can look quite smart as well as school run wear.

It really is lovely , quite unusual in real life as has poppers on the back .

FriskyMare · 20/06/2013 17:42

Gah! Why did I google Seasalt Wink.

FriskyMare · 20/06/2013 17:43

Laquila where do you hear about discounts for Seasalt?

daytoday · 20/06/2013 17:46

Avoca anthology do good raincoats.

ILoveDolly · 20/06/2013 17:51

I have to agree on the Boden rainy day jacket. It has revolutionised my horrible walk to school with 3 kids, because it is warmly lined, hood a good size, actually decent length and not nasty to look at. I got it during a special offer, worth keeping an eye out for, but even full price would have been worth it.

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 20/06/2013 18:29

I have a didriksons Veronica and its lovely.

50shadesofmeh is that coat warm too? How have you found keeping it clean? I only ask as my son had a waxed jacket last year and I only realised you can't wash them when it was covered in mud!

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 19/12/2013 07:50

I had a Boden Rainy Day Mac. It was utterly shite. Apparently it was only designed to protect you from a light dusting of angel tears rather than anything you may experience on a rainy day.

Trooperslane · 19/12/2013 07:54

I've got a jack wolfskin one - pricey at £140 but it looks great, is tailored and I'll wear it forever.

mkmjimmy · 19/12/2013 08:09

North face Suzanne tricimate. It gets compliments. Fitted and survived a deluge last night. V cosy with lining in too.
