Best home IPL system?

Hello,

I'd like to get a home IPL system and would appreciate any of your recommendations. It will be for legs, under arms and bikini rather than face. At the moment I'm thinking Philips Lumea but are there any other great ones? Do Boots still do their one as they say sold out on their website? Thanks in advance.

I have the Philips Lumea and I'm not impressed. I had a short course of salon treatment previously which was very effective and I thought buying the Lumea would work out cheaper in the long term for doing larger areas. Instead I feel I've wasted my money as I'm not seeing any reduction at all in hair growth.

I think you're better off looking for the good offers on salon treatment (groupon etc) as I'm convinced they have stronger machines.

FWIW, I have the pale skin/dark hair combo that is supposed to work best with IPL. Still not seeing any results from the Lumea. Bought it last August. A friend has the Remington and says the same thing about that.

Oh that's disappointing. Thanks for the feedback.

Bumping this to see if anybody has any other opinions. Philips have got a Lumea Precision and I wondered what the opinions on that were.

Hi just want to share my experience with you. My daughter has PCOS and has had a problem with facial and chest hair since her early teens. When she was 18 she was referred for laser hair removal on NHS. She attended Hospital and had a very successful outcome (treatments are carried out on 3 month cycles). She was only entitled to a course of 12 treatments. However she needed a maintenance programme which NHS do not provide. We sourced a therapist who uses a medical grade laser and dd has 3 monthly maintenance programmes at a cost of £60.00 per session. They have been very successful. So my recommendation to you would be source someone who uses a medical grade laser as otherwise you are wasting your money and perhaps damaging your skin long term. P.s my daughter is a beautician and would not use anything only a medical grade laser. Sorry this is so long winded but I hope it helps.

I've got the Philips lumea and its quite good but not wow. I've done it regularly for a year and while I'm not hair free its lots lighter.

One year on with a Remington and noticeable reduction overall, much slower growth and some baldy bits. You can buy replacement flash bulbs on Amazon, giving it a longer life. I like it as a nice way to keep the hair at bay, without ingrowing hair, lumps, stubble or awkward in-between stages (and of course the hope that one day it will be forever gone)

I also have pcos and am having treatments at my local ladder clinic. My therapist old me the home lasers are nowhere near as powerful, so it may be more cost and time effective to go to a clinic
