Touche éclat contains mineral oil please find me something similar that doesn't

Turns out mineral oil causes milia, which I have had, now I come to realise it, since I started using my beloved touche éclat.

It's pretty much the only make up I use, and I need it otherwise people always ask me if I'm ill or tired.

What can I use? Something as organic/ cruelty free/ free range/ fairtrade blah blah as poss please, not so bothered about price for my one make up essental.

Somewhere online said the maybelline one doesn't contain mineral oil... Is Dr haushka concealer any good? Has anyone tried?

Haven't tried the make-up, but Dr Hauschka skincare is amazing, so I'd try that.

Boots No7 Illuminating concealer is very similar to TE, but I've no idea about ingredients.

By Terry Touche Veloutee is similar but better, no mineral oil (as far as I'm aware) but also more expensive.

By terry has fab reviews but I can't find ingredients. The boots number 7 one says it has dimethicone and mineral oil Sad

Sorry for sounding thick, but what is Milia?

chocolatemartini · 18/05/2013 20:32

It's little hard white spots that don't go away and you have to get a beauty therapist to remove them.

Ordered Dr Hauschka concealer... Hopefully will do the trick

Please let us know how it is - I am quite tempted to try it Smile

polyhymnia · 19/05/2013 12:41

I often see posts on here from people trying to avoid mineral oil in skincare, etc.
Can anyone explain why please?

I'm thinking of evidence from the results of scientific studies here, not DM stories or the PR for so-called 'natural' ranges.(Not that I'm assuming the OP had either of those in mind as evidence that mineral oil 'causes' milia- and I don't like Touché Éclat anyway!).

AlwaysSleepingBeauty · 19/05/2013 18:54

I avoid mineral oil because I am allergic to it personally. I've been looking for a creamy under eye concealer without it but struggling so far.

Fuckitthatlldo · 19/05/2013 19:20

Mineral oil is comedogenic Polyhymnia. So those of us with a tendency to clogged pores tend to want to avoid it.

chocolatemartini · 19/05/2013 19:42

I only know that I've had these occasional hard white milia spots for a few years which have to be professionally removed with a needle, and when I looked up milia, pretty much everywhere says avoid mineral oil and silicone, so I thought I would, and see if that helps. I'm not sure much hard scientific research has been done on such a minor skin complaint, and obviously a lot of people use mineral oil (isn't 8 hour cream mostly petroleum jelly?) all the time and don't have problems.

But I definitely never had milia before I was using touche éclat, and I am getting them on the exact same area I use it, under my eyes. It has only taken me about 7 years to work this out!

Will report back on the dr hauschka concealer when it arrives!

So, the dr hauschka concealer arrived. It's fab. It's a creamy liquid that applies smoothly and does the job well. I think it covers my dark circles slightly less than the touche éclat but looks more natural and is such a nice matt finish I can use it with nothing over the top. In my efforts to avoid mineral oil I ordered their cleanser and rose day cream too, so time will tell if these suit my skin better and stop the milia spots. Would recommend.

Oh sounds great! Thanks chocolatemartini.

The rose day cream is amazing. It works best if you apply it by patting and pressing as they recommend - in fact I do this with all face products now.

chocolatemartini · 30/05/2013 19:54

Oh ok, thanks for the tip, I'd better look at the video on their website and see how to pat and press Smile
