Flattering summer trousers when you have generous thighs and calves?

Does such a thing exist? I've always struggled with this even when I was a size 10 (14 at the moment unfortunately).

My Spring and Summer wardrobe is in need of a complete overhaul, but while I've found some lovely flattering dresses, I could really do with at least one pair of trousers to wear on holiday.

Anything too wide or baggy tends to make me look twice my size, but all the more fitted styles I've tried have been too tight on the calf.

Please help me if you can!

DT - the gap chinos didn't fit my calves so I think you are probably right.

I have just received my boden order and tried the following trousers - zip ankle skimmers (good length for me in long but horribly tight on legs), ankle skimmer chinos (ditto), bistro crops (good on waist and hips but tight on calves and too short for me so make my legs look stumpy) and last of all the spring chinos (just about ok but not really what I was after). I think with muscular calves you maybe can't go too cropped or it just makes them look bigger. I need to find ones that stop just above my ankles which are quite slim.
Back to the drawing board.

Wondering if the only solution is to size up to something that fits on the legs and get the waist/hip taken in by a seamstress?

Thanks for the summary SteppingOnLego. I know you weren't keen on the spring chino but how was the fit on the thigh/calf?

Worth thinking about re alterations...

Lego, I tend to do that and then bunch it all in with a beltGrin

I have been thinking of doing darts on my skinnies, but CBA at the mo!

Fit was ok DT, not loose like in their photos but not skin tight either they were just a bit more casual than I wanted, nice fit on hips and ok on waist (probably I would need a belt though)

I'll give the Spring chino a whirl then - I'm looking for casual so they might do me. I will report back!

I tried a pair of black quite dressy chinos from next and they were ok, but I would have needed heels. I am 5 foot 3 and they were a bit too long so I may see if I can get them in petite length as I want to wear them with flatter shoes.

I thought I should come back and share that I had success in finding some chinos these ones from next (the textured chino in navy in case the link doesn't work).

They were tight on the calf initially, but I wore them at home for a couple of hours and they were fine. Bought my usual size and once I'd worn them in they were nicely fitted and quite flattering - unlike every other pair I've ever tried! Need a belt and they are slightly lower at the front than I would have liked, but a success nonetheless!

I have just ordered these: OnFire trousers

Generously sized, definitely, but flattering with a long top. The coral version did make my legs look fat though.
