What shoes should I be wearing with a jersey dress?

I have a few jersey dresses that I would like to wear to work (teacher in primary school). When it is warm enough I wear them with sandals but at the moment it isn't warm enough for sandals.However, I am not sure which type of shoe would go.

Mostly they are either empire line type dresses, either knee length or a bit longer than knee length.

I have ballet pumps but they don't just feel right iyswim. I cannot do heels though (well not high ones). Most of all they have to be comfotable as well as stylish...

Any suggestions?

I have just bought these to wear in a primary school, I think they will go with most of my dresses. The come in a wide fit too.

They are nice but the problem with those, or indeed nearly all ballet style etc for people with wide feet is that your foot won't stay in them. The toe bit can't counteract the effect of the broad foot and they simply fall off. I have to have something holding my foot in

I too am looking out for primary school shoes but really can't bring myself to wear any of those even if they are comfortable. I can't bring myself to pay £70 for ugly shoes.

Probably why I wear trousers most of the year!

You have to buy brogues, they look so cute with dressed. Bored of ballet flats and also looking for something mor substantial I bought a pair of light ink coloured brogues from dune. They are so comfortable and go with everything. I'm chuffe to bits with them.

Northern is right. I have to try on ballet pumps and similar shoes as I find most of them are hideously uncomfortable or fall of when I walk. It is a rare day when I find a pair that are comfortable and stay on!

I might give some brogues and mary janes a go next time I go to a fab shopping place. I can feel a day out looming.
