Dealing with hairs on your upper lip. What's best?

I have quite a few hairs on my upper lip, mostly light but a few dark which I bleach. I want rid altogether though because it makes me self conscious. What's the best and most permanent method of hair removal for that area? Wax? Laser? Something else?

Episticks don't hurt more than plucking in my experience. You get used it, like epilating. Just do it in good light, like any other way to remove hair I guess. It's very clear not to use them on your eyebrows though.

I've only bought the cheapo ones from China and haven't had a problem. The first one I bought lasted 2 years and started to have gaps, so bought another one for £1.99. It's been fine. So I can't comment on a particular brand.

I've had the upper lip threaded before but found it hurt much more than the eyebrows.
You can try threading at home, look on youtube, it's quite easy but it's easier if someone else can do it.

Threading pulls out the hair with a piece of cotton. It's quicker in theory and can shape your eyebrows nicely.

I have mine waxed at a salon at the same time as my brows, legs, bikini. This is a relatively new idea to me (tache waxing), and I feel like it's something my mother should have taught me. It is phenomenally painful though, so v pleased not to have to do it myself, and that it's over v v quickly (and my beautician gives me a tissue to mop up my tears Blush).

I have this problem Sad I may get one of those epistick things. The problem is my full beard and hairy cheeks. Where do I stop? Can I do my whole face? Is that crazy?

phantomhairpuller · 01/05/2013 13:33

Clatty, yes I did this time. Never had the problem before and always get threaded at the same place. Weird! Wink

I noticed this morning I have increasingly furry descending side burns! This maintenance malarkey as I get older is ridiculous!

Dontbugmemalone · 01/05/2013 13:44

If the hair is fine, then bleaching it might be better?

BornToFolk · 01/05/2013 13:48

I love my Epistick! It does hurt like a bastard the first time you use it but you do get used to it. I've found that it's best to use it little and often, every other day is probably best.

I got the cheapest possible from ebay and it's been going strong for about a year now.

blondebubble · 01/05/2013 13:52

An epistick is worth getting - cost less than £3 on ebay and does the job. It is a bit painful but you get used to it. I find after the first initial hit (which is a bit toe curling) all that is need is a quite run over every couple of days - takes seconds.

lljkk · 01/05/2013 14:02

Which one actually hurts the least?
I had a few zapped with electrolysis and Never Again.

missnevermind · 02/05/2013 14:26

I am still using the same epistick I bought 3 years ago. I might invest in a new one to put away now I know what I am looking for. It was only a cheapie off eBay.
Princess I do all round my face with mine. Including the peach fuzz which is starting to appear round the sides.
I didn't know you were not supposed to do your eyebrows. I always do the middle of mine.

I use it for about a min every other day once everything is looking as it should.

kingbeat23 · 02/05/2013 22:01

Spoke to a therapist today about bleaching. She said to use factor 30 on the top lip as the sun will activate it a bit more. Or something like that Wink

VenusRising · 02/05/2013 22:21

Threading. Just get a 10 inch length of common sewing thread, tie a knot in it and twist it, and run the twist back and forwards over your lip, by opening your hands- a bit like cats' cradle.

It's brilliant for getting rid of all the little fine hairs, and excellent for eyebrows.

There are some excellent YouTube tutorials.

So you thread and immac your upper lip? Am a fan of threading but use epipen on myself, isnt self-threading v hard?

mrspaddy · 03/05/2013 14:03

I got mine lazer treated I found it ok but not permanent at all and very expensive. Last time I got it waxed and this seems to be lasting. I have few horrible ones on chin I absolutely hate so tweeze.

Madratlady · 03/05/2013 17:58

I think I'll try waxing. How long do you find it lasts compared to threading though?

I tend to use Parissa hot wax - lovely little metal tub that you heat up on the stove, then it cools a little and it works brilliantly. I have never been able to get on with wax strips Sad

WildlingPrincess · 03/05/2013 20:33

Thanks Miss [smile[
