Help - my hair is completely buggered! :(

In the last month or so my hair has started falling out (definitely much more than usual) and the rest of my hair is massively dry and breaking :( I think it might have started when I used TGel shampoo as I have had really bad dandruff too. I have been to the GP who has ordered blood tests but in the meantime I really need to address the dryness issue. It is awful and feels/looks like straw. Any good ideas of shampoos and conditioners that aren't harsh but will strengthen and soften my hair?

the aussie range is v good indeed, partic the leave-in conditioner here for eg

also can you get it cut, take the dry ends off, you would be surprised at how much diff a good inch off can make to dry dry hair

also also use wide tooth comb, draw through hair v slowly to limit snappage, avoid brushing vigorously

dry naturally, no heated products like tongs or straighteneres

Sorry to hear about this. Can't advise on the hair loss, but for the dryness, try this: get conditioner, hair oil or even plain vegetable oil, work it into your hair. Then cover with a towel turban to keep your clothes clean. Leave on for as long as you can. I used to do this once a week & leave it on overnight, as I had some medicine that dried out my skin & hair, this really helped. If you use plain vegetable oil, try adding some nice essential oil, eg lavender, rose, or whatever you like - this will give it a nice smell & feel a bit more of a treat, less of a chore. Obviously, make sure you wash it all out after a few hours or in the morning.

My DD has really brittle hair. It has improved since using shampoo / conditioner without sulphites in. I used the Naked Range but could only use it for a short while on my own hair. I'm now using

Sorry pressed post too soon.

I'm now using Tresemme Naturals and that seems to be nice v

I got some Vo5 hair mask stuff which is mega conditioning, but I suspect full of chemicals so might not be ideal for your poor scalp. Smells nice though! I also have a little bit of morroccon oil left from my pre baby / full time employment extravagance which is awesome stuff, but sadly too expensive to justify replacing when it runs out. If you are loaded, I recommend it Grin

How about dead sea stuff? There are people over on the dry scalp threads saying Dead Sea stuff is great and they do some kind of hair mask (I have a dry scalp at the moment too, almost certainly hormonal and have been meaning to check it out)

Sorry to hear about this. I stripped all the colour out of my hair using colourb4 (2 packs) and my hair, unsurprisingly, has suffered. I have been using deep conditioners and masks for the past couple of weeks but last night put a load of argan oil on my hair. I shampooed twice this morning to get rid of it and it's made a huge difference - my hair is much shinier and more supple and really soft. Agree with 50 shades, go with the oil option. I'm going to do it again but maybe with coconut or olive oil. I would be careful with scented / essential oils as they may make any issues with your scalp much worse, unless you get the green light from an aromatherapist.

I was also going to try the egg / avocado hair mask route (you can add oil to this too) but remember to rinse with cool water, otherwise you'll end up with scrambled eggs.

Make sure you are drinking lots of water, try taking a daily fish oil supplement and a multi vit with a good vitamin E content too.
