Shoe help please, shopping this weekend, pregnant London commuter...

help me not drift into frump-zone please...!?

I have a commute on the underground that includes a mile walking to the station on a fairly uneven pavement, and a mile home from a different station on a gravel/grass path. The tube part is easy and work is close at the other end, but I am doing this five days a week and seriously need shoes that will look after my feet, so no heels, probably want something that holds on to my whole foot (brogues?) and given those constraints previously I am awful for ending up in Ecco/Josef Seibel territory.

Shops available to me this weekend are: John Lewis, M&S, Next, Schuh, Office, Dune, Clarks, Aldo, Zara and a couple of independents. I am willing to spend money for quality, maybe up to £150 but if so they would have to go with everything. I tend to wear dresses and jackets, which make up the bulk of my maternity wear, but I also have a black maternity suit with both cropped trousers/knee length skirt options.

Am dragging DH and DS round with me on this shopping trip hence why I want to be focussed and have some styles in mind. Also because I don't like wander-about type shopping either. Grin Please help meeeee.....

I would suggest leather brogues to be honest. Definitely leather rather than canvas or any synthetic material as the leather will shape to your foot giving you better support. They are still a stylish option and look good with trousers, skirts and dresses. They are what I would go for anyway.

These Clarks Hamble Oak Brogues are lovely. I have them in dark tan and black patent. Worn for work, with skinnies, tights and dresses. Love them!

oh good the clarks brogues could be just what I'm after. What's the fit like? I have quite narrow feet and didn't have a problem with swollen feet/ankles first pg at all.

Bumping for the Friday night crowd... Still looking for help focussing my shopping trip!

Are these Dune brogues worth the extra £15 on the Clarks price? Anyone know? I have this pair of boots in the sandy colour which I really like and seem good quality. Also there is a brogue style with a woven panel, might be good if the weather gets hotter in the summer if it's more breathable perhaps?

I doubt I am quirky enough for these but I am a little drawn to them... Schuh also do a brogue, looks a bit more chunky

Maybe I need a boat shoe for the summer instead.

I am not a brogue lover, myself, so would be thinking of pointy flats. How about these: m.aldoshoes.com/mt/www.aldoshoes.com/uk/women/shoes/flats/94104678-dobrus/97

And how about a working link? m.aldoshoes.com/mt/www.aldoshoes.com/uk/women/shoes/flats/94104678-dobrus/97

I'd certainly wear those round the office, bunny, but for a mile to and from the station I don't think they would give my feet the right support. I know it's a bit old lady ish but I have slightly weak ankles at the best of time and when pg hormones relax my ligaments I need support all over the place!

what about trainers for the commute for comfort and then you could wear whatever shoes you want at work?

LexyMa · 20/04/2013 13:00

Grin thanks, perfectly reasonable idea it's just not very me...!

Got these in pinky beige from John Lewis. The leather is soooo soft.
